Black - Senear - 01-27-2012 He halfway through, im turning into a faith no more fan. Something vaguely funny about that statement. Its funny why i avoided them for so long. My friends and i used to hang under the slacker metal tree way back when. My friend Jeremy had his metal edge magazine. One of those guys was quotted as saying they arent metal and metal sucks. Well, Freshman highschool friends took that personally. It was personal! lol. Probably meant they were not bon jovi. Warrent. hehe. By friends i mean i stand off to the side and they wouldnt beat my ass for it. Friends in my book anyway! lol. Black - Guest - 01-27-2012 Interesting and yet no surprise, hehe, about what one said in magazine. Faith No More was such an outspoken band. Always going against the PC view, on purpose I suspect. They changed alot over the years. I like all their transformations, their early years are charming. I know the singer cant hold a note too well, lol, and then they got Mike Patton in, and he is a good singer, and very boldly outspoken. Maybe he was the one who said it? Ok, one more early one its called R' n R http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RX6E4Cnc ... re=related Black - Senear - 01-27-2012 Folks, here´s a story about Minnie the Moocher She was a red hot hoochie-koocher She was the roughest, toughest frail but Minnie had a heart as big as a wha-a-le Hidee-Hidee-Hidee-hi() Hodee-hodee-hodee-ho() Heedey-hee-dee-hee-dee hee () Hidee-hidee-hidee-ho() She messed around with a bloke named Smoky She loved him though he was cokey He took her down to Chinatown He showed her how to kick the gong around () Hidee-Hidee-Hidee-hi() Wooooooh() Heedey-hee-dee-hee-dee hee () Hidee-hidee-hidee-ho() She had a dream that the King of Sweden He gave her things that she was needin´ He built her a house of gold and steel A diamond car with platinum wheels hidee-hidee-hidee-hidee-hidee-hidee-hi() hodee-hodee-hodee-hodee-hodee-hodee-ho() scoodley-woo-scoodley-woo-scoodley-woodley-woodley- woo() zit-dit-dit-dit-dittle-but-dut-duttleoo-skit-dit- skittle-but-dit-zoy() he gave her his townhouse and his racing horses Each meal she ate was a dozen courses [ From : http://www.elyrics.net/read/c/calloway- ... yrics.html ] She had a million dollars worth of nickels and dimes she sat around and counted them all a million times Hidee-Hidee-Hidee-hi Hodee-hodee-hodee-ho( Heedey-hee-dee-hee-dee hee Hidee-hidee-hidee-ho Now Min and Smokie, they started jaggin' They got a free ride in a wagon She gave him money to pay her bail But he left her flat in the county jail Whoooa, yeaaaah Hey de he de he he Whoa Whoa Poor Min met old Deacon Lowdown He preached to her that she ought to slow down But Minnie wiggled her jelly roll And Deacon Lowdown yelled, "Lord save my soul!" My father had a very old copy he used to buy and collect old records in the 1960's and 1970's. By the 1980's when i was around listening to music that thing must have been positively ancient. This was one of them. I used to love the scratchy sound before the record would start, it always filled me with anticipation for what was to come Black - Senear - 02-16-2012 Black - Cedar Waxwing - 02-17-2012 When I wake up in the morning, love And the sunlight hurts my eyes And something without warning, love Bears heavy on my mind Then I look at you And the world's alright with me Just one look at you And I know it's gonna be A lovely day Lovely day, lovely day, lovely day When the day that lies ahead of me Seems impossible to face When someone else instead of me Always seems to know the way Then I look at you And the world's alright with me Just one look at you And I know it's gonna be A lovely day Cool Post. When every time I look around, The people suffer in the suffering In everyway, in everywhere. Say: na-na-na-na-na (na-na, na-na!): We're the survivors, yes: the Black survivors! I tell you what: some people got everything; Some people got nothing; Some people got hopes and dreams; Some people got ways and means. Na-na-na-na-na (na-na, na-na!): We're the survivors, yes: the Black survivors! Yes, we're the survivors, like Daniel out of the lions' den (Black survivors) Survivors, survivors! So I Idren, I sistren, A-which way will we choose? We better hurry; oh, hurry; oh, hurry; wo, now! 'Cause we got no time to lose. Some people got facts and claims; Some people got pride and shame; Some people got the plots and schemes; Some people got no aim it seems! Na-na-na-na-na, na-na, na! We're the survivors, yes: the Black survivors! Tell you what: we're the survivors, yeah! - the Black survivors, yeah! We're the survivors, like Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego (From: http://www.elyrics.net/read/b/bob-marle ... yrics.html) (Black survivors), Thrown in the fire, but-a never get burn. So I Idren, I-sistren, The preaching and talkin' is done; We've gotta live up, wo now, wo now! - 'Cause the Father's time has come. Some people put the best outside; Some people keep the best inside; Some people can't stand up strong; Some people won't wait for long. (Na-na-na-na-na!) Na-na-na, na-na-na na! We're the survivors In this age of technological inhumanity (Black survival), Scientific atrocity (survivors), Atomic misphilosophy (Black survival), Nuclear misenergy (survivors): It's a world that forces lifelong insecurity (Black survival). Together now: (Na-na-na-na-na!) Na na-na na na! (Na na-na na na!) We're the survivors, yeah! We're the survivors! Yes, the Black survivors! We're the survivors: A good man is never honoured (survivors) in his own yountry (Black survival). Nothing change, nothing strange (survivors). Nothing change, nothing strange (Black survivors). We got to survive, y'all! (survivors) - [fadeout Black - delawaredan - 02-18-2012 What I've realized since is that it's a very painful process but it is not destructive. It's the world deliberation. And what really happened in the sixties was that this country took just the first step toward admitting that it had been wrong on race, and creativity burst out in all directions. From the color of the faces in Sunday songs To the hatred they raised all the youngsters on Once upon a time in this country, long ago She knew there was something wrong Because the song said "yellow, red, black, and white Every one precious in the path of Christ" But what about the daughter Of the woman cleaning their house? Wasn't she a child they were singin' about? And if Jesus loves us, black and white skin Why didn't her white mother invite them in? When did it become a room for no blacks to step in? How did she already know not to ask the question? Left lasting impressions Adolescent's comfort's gone She never thought things would ever change, But she always knew there was something wrong. Always knew there was somethin' wrong. She always knew there was somethin' wrong. Years later, she found herself Mississippi bound to help Stop the legalized lynching of Mr. Willy McGee. But they couldn't stop it, So they thought that they'd talk to the governor about what'd happened And say, "We're tired of being used as an excuse to kill black men." But the cops wouldn't let 'em past And these women, they struck 'em as uppity So they hauled 'em all off to jail And they called in protective custody. Then from her cell She heard her jailers Grumblin' about "outsiders". When she called 'em out And said she was from the south, they shouted, "Why is a nice, Southern lady makin' trouble For the governor?" She said, "I guess I'm not your type of lady, And I guess I'm not your type of Southerner, But before you call me traitor, Well it's plain as just to say (?) I was a child in Mississippi but I'm ashamed of it today." She always knew there was somethin' wrong. She always knew there was somethin' wrong. She always knew there was somethin' wrong. She always knew there was somethin' wrong. ([spoken] And, all of a sudden, I realized I was on the other side) Imagine the world that you're standing within All of your neighbors, they're family-friends. How would you cope facing the fact The flesh on their hands was tainted with sin? She faced this every day. People she saw on a regular basis; People she loved, in several cases; People she knew were incredibly racist. It was painful, but she never stopped loving them, Never stopped callin' their names And she never stopped being a Southern woman And she never stopped fighting for change. And she saw that her struggle was in the tradition of ancestors never aware of her (?) It continues today: The soul of a Southerner born of the other America. She always knew there was somethin' wrong. She always knew there was somethin' wrong. She always knew there was somethin' wrong. She always knew there was somethin' wrong. [spoken] What you win in the immediate battles is little compared to the effort you put into it but if you see that as a part of this total movement to build a new world, you know what could be (????? "oooh, ooooh"). You do have a choice. You don't have to be a part of the world of the lynchers. You can join the other America. There is another America! Black - Cedar Waxwing - 02-18-2012 Here, have a dollar, in fact no brotherman here, have two Two dollars means a snack for me, but it means a big deal to you Be strong, serve God only, know that if you do, beautiful heaven awaits That's the poem I wrote for the first time I saw a man with no clothes, no money, no plate Mr.Wendal, that's his name, no one ever knew his name cause he's a no-one Never thought twice about spending on a ol' bum, until I had the chance to really get to know one Now that I know him, to give him money isn't charity He gives me some knowledge, I buy him some shoes And to think blacks spend all that money on big colleges, still most of y'all come out confused [CHORUS:] Go ahead, Mr.Wendal (2x) Mr.Wendal has freedom, a free that you and I think is dumb Free to be without the worries of a quick to diss society for Mr.Wendal's a bum His only worries are sickness and an occasional harassment by the police and their chase Uncivilized we call him, but I just saw him eat off the food we waste Civilization, are we really civilized, yes or no ? Who are we to judge ? When thousands of innocent men could be brutally enslaved and killed over a racist grudge Mr.Wendal has tried to warn us about our ways but we don't hear him talk Is it his fault when we've gone too far, and we got too far, cause on him we walk Mr.Wendal, a man, a human in flesh, but not by law I feed you dignity to stand with pride, realize that all in all you stand tall Mr.Wendal, yeah yeah yeah, Lord, Mr.Wendal Black - Cedar Waxwing - 02-18-2012 Wei Shan Yang, great post. Have since learned jokes don't carry well on internet where voice inflections cannot be heard usually. The whole thread is allegory, not a statement on social concerns. The oppressions and slavery represents Flyer mentality. The cry for freedom, the warrior spirit. Black - Guest - 08-21-2019 |
