Wow! I know I may seem a bit too freaked out for your liking, but your Gold Top Route 66 guitar is too amazing for words!!!
It outdoes my Epiphone Les Paul (photo I took included)

I originally just owned a Fender Stratocaster guitar that I had reworked three separate times
until I FINALLY created the missing link between a Stratocaster and a Les Paul, but...
it was never Les Paul enough for my liking

I had this memory from my youth of getting a chance to play an official Gibson Les Paul.
The memory was that compared to the Stratocaster the Les Paul practically played itself.
It was because of the incident that I did my best to transform my Stratocaster into a Les Paul

I really like my Epiphone Les Paul, but I NEVER had that feeling I once had
of the guitar practically playing itself. Never again have I had that feeling...UNTIL NOW!!!
I really understand how the heavy weight of a Les Paul makes bending strings so easy
it's like every time I bend a string the guitar is saying, "Isn't this fun?" Heck, it sure is fun!!!!

Well, I don't know what more to say except KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!!!!
You really struck proverbial paydirt with your Route 66 Les Paul!
I'm so close to buying a black one on Amazon that a few hours ago
I was one-click away from fully ordering it

When the guy reviewing the Route 66 picked up a black one he ordered at the end of the video
I was enthralled! It was so beautiful. I only saw it for a moment, but...it really grabbed me

I dunno. I shouldn't be spending the money, but...I can't help feeling...well....

When this YouTube commercial first came on I said to myself,

"What??? Another Dracula movie?? Give me a break, willya?

Then I saw the trailer and...I'm suddenly a fan!

It is said that he is now in the process of creating

a new weight loss video called:

I wonder who started that rumor

NEXT MONOPRICE EMAIL:
As I was playing I suddenly noticed that the neck pickup was at an angle
rather than parallel with the guitar strings, as the bridge pickup is.

When pushing the top and bottom of the bridge pickup I encountered
the normal bit of spring play in each direction.

However, on the neck pickup I would have play in only one direction.
The other direction was obviously hitting the wall of the guitar wood.
I had to take off the pickup and use a Dremel tool to do a bit of routing.

Now the neck pickup has a bit of play in both directions
and it is much more parallel to the strings as it should be

Thought I would let you know about this matter. Might be a good idea to make certain
your new batch of route 66 guitars does not have this problem.

((( The Practical Seer ))) - Sacateca - 07-01-2014

This was a very important problem that can be easily resolvedif the Monoprice people catch it in time BEFORE their new batch of Route 66 guitars are shipped to them

I may have saved them A LOT of money with this revelation
because they would have had to do the work themselves to fix this problem
how much by the hour on each Route 66 guitar, eh?

I'd say they OWE ME that black Route 66 Les Paul FOR FREE!!!

WELL, SEEMS I'M NOT GOING TO GET A FREE GUITAR FROM MONOPRICE:
"Are you saying that by helping you to make certain your new set of Route 66 guitars does not have this problem I have now completely voided my warranty? Is that how I am to be rewarded?
I love this guitar! I would not have wanted to have to mail it to you when you have no replacements in stock. Oh well. I've learned my lesson. Next time something like this happens I'll keep my big mouth shut and not try to help the company. Let them find out the hard way
Thanks for the lesson"

MY COMMENT:

It's all for the best. Guess I needed something to happen to kill all desire
for me buying a black Les Paul from that company. I no longer want to buy one, right? RIGHT???

I just watched part of a documentary on YouTube called:

God Of Wonders The Documentary (2009) Full Length

I suddenly found myself considering that Charles Darwin

went to the amazingly miraculous Galapagos Islands

and through what he observed there

established his THEORY of evolution

So, what is the core of the THEORY of evolution?

THERE IS NOTHING MIRACULOUS

 ABOUT NATURE WHATSOEVER!!!!

That's the core of it

Think about it

That's the core of
the THEORY of evolution,
alright!!

"To be simple is really very difficult"

-Itzhak Perlman

MY COMMENT:

Perlman just so happens to be one of the greatest violinists of the modern age!
I suddenly remembered him saying this about playing simple slow pieces
and how one can hide behind a flurry of fast notes

As a guitarist my overall goal has been to master the fast notes
However, the closer I get to mastering the fast notes the more I realize
that the beauty of my slow melodic notes are the proverbial "cake"

The fast notes are like the fancy icing frills on a wedding cake
You know all those fancy icing frills wedding cake makers are famous for, right?
In the final analysis who the hell cares about that if the cake tastes like ****?

((( The Practical Seer ))) - Sacateca - 07-02-2014

The Route 66 is proving to be the most generously melodic guitar I have ever owned
This guitar 'sings' rather than making sound. It likes to 'sing' and that is very strange indeed!

I've been used to guitars that make nice sounds, if you are determined enough
I am not used to a guitar that literally wants to sing and loves to sing!!!

It's quite a moving experience for me!
I'm starting to look at certain Karaoke songs in my collection
in a whole new light!

It's interesting to note that most of all my lead guitar playing is original
I enjoy exercising my original creativity through improvising lead breaks
I most certainly play lead guitar much more than rhythm nowadays

Many of the rock legends, like Eric Clapton and Jimmy Page
gained their inspiration through studying and emulating the great blues legends of America
They would treat whatever old blues records they could find, in England, like precious gold
Such records were hard to find, in England, at the time

I, on the other hand, approach rock music from a Brazilian Jazz angle
Rather than being inspired by old black blues men, I am inspired by videos like this

The core of my lead guitar playing is Latin in nature and leans more towards Carlos Santana
than it does towards people like Eric Clapton or Jimmy Page
Still, I do emulate the great rock legends of the Baby Boomer generation
although it's interesting to note that I have NEVER heard Carlos Santana
playing ANY Brazilian Jazz. Not so much as ONE SONG!!!

((( The Practical Seer ))) - Sacateca - 07-02-2014

I remember Yngwie Malmsteem saying that his whole guitar styleis based on the emulation of great violinists. I can see that

Like the great violinist Paganini, they say Malmsteem sold his soul to the devil
That's why he can play guitar as he does. I don't know if this is true

However, I don't like his songs. I do like CERTAIN THINGS about his guitar playing
That much is for certain, and I do indeed want to learn
JUST THOSE CERTAIN THINGS

Not willing to sell my soul to learn them
That much is for certain as well

((( The Practical Seer ))) - Sacateca - 07-02-2014

Gosh!
He makes it look so simple!!

eh?

((( The Practical Seer ))) - Sacateca - 07-02-2014

I mean, what guarantee do I have that their NEXT batch of Monoprice Route 66 guitars
will be just as good? They may have decided to cut corners and use cheaper hardware
in order to turn over a bigger profit, right?

Grumble, grumble, grumble....

((( The Practical Seer ))) - Sacateca - 07-02-2014

So simple!

Let's see him play it with his feet

((( The Practical Seer ))) - Sacateca - 07-03-2014

Whereas Malmsteen obviously leans toward the violinist Paginini for his musical style
I lean more towards the music of the Baroque period

The Baroque period was the forerunner of the classical period of music
of which Paginini was one of it's most notoriously demonic forces

The Baroque period produced quite a number of great composers
Unfortunately, until I became a paid subscriber to Pandora One
I never knew who many of these other great Baroque composers were

Francesco Geminiani

December 5, 1687 - September 17, 1762
born in Lucca, Italy, composed during the Baroque period

Geminiani was an important and influential Italian violinist, composer, and theorist. During his life, he was overshadowed by Handel, and Vivaldi, and he is still relatively obscure today in spite of the great originality and beauty of his compositions and his considerable place in music history's march. Geminiani, a student of Corelli, expanded the art of violin playing to a level previously thought unattainable. Many of the techniques he introduced or developed are now part of the standard technique of the violinist. Likewise, his practical treatises on music inspired numerous successors. The most important one, The Art of Playing on the Violin (1751), was the first instruction manual addressed to advanced players from a professional viewpoint, as opposed to a primer for beginners. His The Art of Accompaniment on the Harpsichord is likewise unique for its point of view, being framed from the soloist's perspective rather than the accompanist's. Geminiani published a number of other treatises on harmony, guitar playing, and further aspects of violin playing. As a composer, Geminiani accomplished little in the way of structural innovation. Mostly, he followed Corelli's models in his numerous sonatas and concertos, but his music is generally richer, harmonically somewhat more complex, and substantially more difficult to play than that of his former teacher, with a certain free and creative flair. The underestimation of his influence was not just a result of the Romantic eclipse of all things Baroque, but began even in his own day: Geminiani somehow incurred the critical wrath of the most influential British music writer of the day, Charles Burney.

Geminiani was born in 1687 and began his studies in Milan, but he encountered his most important teachers, Corelli and Alessandro Scarlatti, when he moved to Rome. Before 1714, he held several posts in Italy, including those in Lucca and Naples, but met with little success. In 1714, his career took a sharp turn upward when he moved to London. He quickly met with acclaim as a virtuoso performer and soon earned ongoing support from several influential patrons. Between 1716, when his Op. 1 violin sonatas were published and 1726, when his arrangements of Corelli's sonatas were published as Op. 5, little is known of Geminiani's whereabouts or activities. From 1727 through the middle or late 1740s, Geminiani continued to live in London, making several trips to Ireland and publishing more sonatas and concertos. He was also most active during this time as a soloist and conductor. Although he continued to perform occasionally, his later years were spent primarily in teaching and writing and publishing his various treatises. In 1759, he moved to Dublin, and he returned to England only once more before his death in 1762. ~ Steven Coburn, Rovi

If you compare the Baroque style to that of Paganini

you can get an idea of the difference in my style of fast guitar lead as compared to Malmsteen

Although, I've become rather obsessed with playing fast like Yngwie Malmsteen

Oh, I've been working on it alright and making miraculous progress!!!
