Thought this was interesting.
There’s only one decision – to stay awake or go asleep. If you’re awake
you cannot deny the truth. If you cannot deny the truth, there’s no
decision in it. So if you’re angry, jealous or depressed you’re going
to go to sleep. If you’re caught up in this other stuff – drugs, alcohol
and everything else – all you do is bounce around. Your choice is to
go to sleep. You don’t see and you can’t see things without changing
this attitude.
Without waking up we will remain trapped in an ideal
of exploitation that has devastated Native people in a history that
continues to unfold.
The elders, they teach us this thing or that.
When you’re ready you’ll come to this place and they’ll show you.
You’ll be shown these things but they’re not the fire, they’re the
spark.
You are the fire. They light the match. You have it all in you.
We are a culture of thanksgiving, respect, sharing and honouring
creation. These are things to remember and humans have a
responsibility to maintain these duties.
