Staying on the path of a Warrior - trinsic - 02-01-2014 Continuing from my introduction, I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on how they stay on the path of a Warrior.I find myself getting distracted by civilized life a great deal. I work in fixing computers so I deal with the public a lot. and I live in a a small city. I sometimes wonder if it would better to drop everything and move to a place where I can pratice silence, stalking, and dreaming. In fact every time I think about leaving society a powerful emotion of sadness comes into me, in my heart center. Its as if I a am missing something. Like when you think that you have forgotten something important. Has that happened to anyone? Staying on the path of a Warrior - Littlepaw - 02-01-2014 Something I did was to keep a diary. I wrote down my dreams each morning and everything else in between, I highly recommend it dude ; )))))))))) Staying on the path of a Warrior - NagualHuman - 02-01-2014 Shift of assemblage point position, of attention is accompanied by waves of undescribable sadness, longing or happiness. In my life, I was standing in similiar situation like yours and when conclusion like yours that caused those "feelings, it shifted me into a state of silence and alot of times alot hightened awareness. I was standing infront of a decision similiar to yours, but when I instead of leaving "maybe to somewhere physicaly". I started leaving myself and my opinions in the city, becoming alone and detached, more aware and happy, questioning my deepest beliefs about my life towards what I want. I understood that, what I wanted and longing for was in reality always here, behind those feelings. Staying on the path of a Warrior - watergaze - 02-01-2014 imo there are two ways.. one is youre thoroughly dissatisfied with things as they otherwise are or you love the path so much that you cannot imagine anything else. It is not an issue where you are, unless it is, meaning that sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do and go where you gotta go as part of it all. In general though being in civilization is where the challenges are and a warrior does not run from challenges. Best, Id say is to get some of both settings. Being in town should not hinder you from practising silence, stalking and dreaming. I see you say that you feel you have forgotten something important, as if you are missing something. But you also say that the thought of leaving society brings about a powerful sadness. One can put those together, but for some reason reading I thought of two things, not one. Reading the just latter part I was reminded how one of the reasons why leaving society gives a deep emotion of sadness can be because one feels it would be leaving. leaving that life that one has been having, leaving it for good. And letting go can be sad, if one decides to walk the path for good, so to speak, then one might feel the letting go like this. Reading the first part I wondered if you distinguish between longing and sadness.. Cause it would make sense to me if you were longing for what you say you seem to be missing and that can be used as a driving force. But to be sad about it is different. Humans are, by nature, not solitary creatures.. we were not meant to live somewhere in a cave without human contact . And the days of doing that to become enlightened etc are thought to be past us too. The seekers of today have different challenges. (Saying that though I need to point out that being alone with oneself is important..) Coming back to what you were saying, if going away from the city is you way of declaring things for yourself/spirit, well.. Look inside and understand where this sadness is coming from and what it brings and means. You know what is true, just ask yourself . In the meantime, I suggest taking walks.. 'tis a very important thing, useful on many levels. As you walk you can practice silence, gazing, attention, recap, self-stalking, etc. Staying on the path of a Warrior - trinsic - 02-01-2014 watergaze wrote:imo there are two ways.. one is youre thoroughly dissatisfied with things as they otherwise are or you love the path so much that you cannot imagine anything else. I had mixed feelings, being glad to be home, but sad the adventure was over. At least in the regard of the trip I returned from. Staying on the path of a Warrior - watergaze - 02-03-2014 trinsic wrote:Im not sure how to differentiate between longing and sadness on a emotional level. imo it is very helpful, if not crucial, to be aware of one's own inner processes... the difference between sadness and longing I find is something to be seen and understood . Will help you understand yourself and the reasons behind your emotions/feelings better, that then will help you see the path ahead more clearly too. It is one part of gaining order on the tonal island of things.. Longing has a pulling or propelling force in it.. this type of sadness, or transmuted sadness, can be used to rise up from the depth and soar the skies one day I might find the time to write more about this in our Feeling Map in the Art of Stalking. Sadness and longing are big ones for seekers, warriors, and sorcerers. It might also be interesting to hear how other people have/view it Staying on the path of a Warrior - Guest - 02-03-2014 trinsic wrote:Continuing from my introduction, I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on how they stay on the path of a Warrior.I find myself getting distracted by civilized life a great deal. In fact every time I think about leaving society a powerful emotion of sadness comes into me, in my heart center. Its as if I a am missing something. Like when you think that you have forgotten something important. Has that happened to anyone? I deal with the public too. You can adapt those times to your benefit through stalking. Then be sure to make time for yourself to be alone, at home or travel into nature. So that your time is divided into two lives: with and without people. At least that has worked for me. I get benefits of experience and learn from both environments. Then night dreaming is a continued enrichment, like a bridge between the two. If you were to leave society all together, you would miss out on a storehouse of value able experiences that can come only from human interaction IMO. On the other hand, time alone is so very important, as is being silent, meditating etc. So that longing feeling, I have felt it too, but if I were to actually leave society completely, I doubt it would be ultimately beneficial. So the longing may not be as accurate if given a test run. I think it would lead to stasis....this is based on having done some temporary retreats from society. They are great in a way at first, but then everything just slows down. Staying on the path of a Warrior - Guest - 02-03-2014 And I gather when you say to move to a place to practice silence, stalking and dreaming...that you do not refer to total isolation. But I do think you mean to not work. If that's the case, if not finding some other way to deal with public by volunteering or self employment etc., then that would be so limiting IMO. For example, stalking would be almost null and void if challenges of tonal are removed. However, retreats are good times for recap, right? I just don't see prolonged retreats as beneficial, as human engagement does so much, especially in stalking avenues. Staying on the path of a Warrior - trinsic - 02-04-2014 Well after reading everyones comments I started to let my mind wander and I found myself on the Modern Nagulism section. I was going though some of the videos in the Modern Nagulism and I think I came across what kind of process is going on inside me. I think I still have a hard time with processing my own feelings into something meaningful, but im working on it. In the meantime, I listen to what other people have to say and somehow Im able to find out what feels right in what they are saying and apply it to what is going on in my internal processes.Anyway Chris Douglas, he talks about when people grow in awareness you are torn between to states of reality, higher awareness and the doings of the world. I feel torn between these two worlds and Im afraid to give up either of them for the other. He says trying to two at the same time a real hard. Its like in order for me to continue down this path, im going to have to give up some things about myself that are not serving me. Its like im cutting myself off from the higher awareness to be in the world of every day to a certain extent. Not that I cant be in the world of people and be in a higher awareness, but involving myself in the doings of the world cuts me off from higher awareness. I think that is closer to the truth of whats happening. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=pl ... fll5MxK0Ds Staying on the path of a Warrior - watergaze - 02-04-2014 glad you figured it out trinsic. Err, something I am now thinking of and acting on. Beauty! Staying on the path of a Warrior - shamanka - 02-07-2014 something you are be-coming..or arriving at.. i am now arriving.... i am now be-coming.... doing the active intention..fabulous. Magical you! Staying on the path of a Warrior - serloco - 02-07-2014 One of the things that hit me hard when i first started on this path is the realization that even the average normal world is not so average and normal. Society and reality is so much more then we are aware of. Secrets, twists and turns lie everywhere. It comes down to suspending our ideas and judgements of people and the world. Our awareness is so fixated in the 'average' day to day routine that we forget that there is more out there, right in front of our eyes. In my opinion what you need is the nagual to bust in to your tonal. Tear down the walls of your routines and habitual behaviour. The tonal, including everything in your day to day routine, is somewhat as an illusion. Its very real, sure, but do not forget that your judgements and awareness are placing you within that tonal. People are very mysterious beings when you become aware of them in that light. Shift your awareness and your tonal will shift. Now how do you shift your awareness? Stalk your awareness, your environment, your judgements and expectations while being aware that more is there to uncover. One of the hugest discoveries i ever made in my world is that people can see your awareness. I started stalking seers, and telepathy, which opened the doors to those experiences. All within the average tonal but it was hidden until i broke out and made some awareness. Its an abstract concept but we are willfull beings, willing the world into its position. What can you will into the world? Staying on the path of a Warrior - shamanka - 02-08-2014 a few words to maybe inspire as they inspire me when i read them.... i found this as particularly apt for me and my life.... IN THIS UNIVERSE NOTHING IS FOR NOTHING; ALLKNOWLEDGE MUST BE EARNED AT GREAT COST. THE COST OF TRUE KNOWLEDGE IS ONE'S LIFE. THEKNOWLEDGE YOU SEEK CAN ONLY BE ACQUIRED BYDEDICATING YOUR LIFE TO IT. YOU CANNOT WALK THE PATH OF KNOWLEDGE WITHOUTLIVING THAT KNOWLEDGE; THEREFORE YOUR COMMITMENTMUST BE ABSOLUTE. WALKING THE PATH OF KNOWLEDGE DOES NOT COMENATURALLY TO MAN; THEREFORE ALL LEARNING IS FORCED theun mares- return of the warriors Most people would like to have knowledge, but would prefer it if they could simply purchase it from somewhere rather than having to work for it. This is one of the reasons why today there are so many schools offering enlightenment and why it is not too difficult to find those gurus who will, for a price, shoulder your responsibility to learn. But as has already been pointed out, true knowledge is knowledge of the self, and such knowledge cannot be given to us by anyone, nor can it be bought for any money in the world. The only thing the true spiritual teacher can give his students is the necessary guidance to enable them to tap their own hidden resources. To do this, the spiritual teacher must force his students into learning who and what they truly are, for without this knowledge there can be no tapping of one's potential. However, to face ourselves, to take stock of who we are, and to acknowledge even our shortcomings, is never pleasant and is most of the time very frightening. In view of this, it is not surprising that a lot of people seek out only those teachers who make them feel good and who promise to do the work for them. The true spiritual teacher is never comfortable to be with, for he invariably challenges us to look at aspects of ourselves which we spend our lives trying to hide from everybody, including ourselves. Such a teacher does not care what his students may think of him, or whether they like him or not, because his only concern is to see that they get that knowledge which they are seeking, and for which they came to him. Obviously teachers such as these are few and difficult to find, simply because it is the rare man indeed who will put his reputation at stake, and who is prepared to love his students more than his desire for recognition. thanks theun...awesomely expressed life experience and my link with 'spirit' was my only teacher for many years, as i walked this path alone, with no one to discuss it with. I dont feel life gets acknowledged enough as a teacher, but i feel that gets redressed when recapitulation is committed to... CONSIDER EVERY PATH CAREFULLY, TESTING IT IN WHICHEVER WAY YOU FEEL NECESSARY - THEN ASK YOURSELF, BUT ONLY YOURSELF, ONE QUESTION: 'DOES THIS PATH HAVE A HEART?' ANY PATH IS MUCH THE SAME AS ANY OTHER PATH. SOME PATHS WIND THIS WAY AND THAT - SOME PATHS GO STRAIGHT; BUT IN THE END NO PATH GOES ANYWHERE AT ALL. THE ONLY DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ONE PATH AND ANOTHER IS THAT SOME HAVE A HEART AND SOME DO NOT. THE PATH THAT HAS A HEART WILL UPLIFT YOU, EASE YOUR BURDEN AND BRING YOU JOY. THE PATH WITH NO HEART WILL MAKE YOU STUMBLE, IT WILL BREAK YOUR SPIRIT, AND FINALLY CAUSE YOU TO LOOK UPON YOUR LIFE WITH ANGER AND BITTERNESS theun mares a bit of theun as i wade around my postings....gotta love how the man writes. trust you enjoy... Staying on the path of a Warrior - Guest - 02-08-2014 It's also nice to keep in mind, while traveling on the path of the warrior, that all warriors travel their own paths. We may walk beside one another yet our paths are different and our own. Staying on the path of a Warrior - Julio Juliopolis - 02-09-2014 Great topic here! This is something I'm working on already as someone who only made the commitment to walk the warrior's path a couple months ago, and I'm sure many struggle with it for a long time, (C.C. sure did). A lot of great advice in this thread. I squealed with delight when I read... Kaomea wrote:It's also nice to keep in mind, while traveling on the path of the warrior, that all warriors travel their own paths. We may walk beside one another yet our paths are different and our own. Couldn't agree more here. Except instead of advising people to keep it in mind I'd suggest they tatoo that on their foreheads. One has to find their own path. Others can try to help but they can only do so much as they don't know what path is the right one for you. I mean they can tell you your path probably doesn't involve eating potato chips and watching TV all day and other things like that, and maybe make suggestions but that's it. You've got to use your intent to find the path as much as to walk it and stay on it. One thing that's been helping me with this is trying more not-doings with my routines. This involves two things. First is looking hard at the reasons for my routines and finding what I ought to get rid of. The second is selecting new things to do instead. I recently started learning to draw. As I'm learning this skill, I'm seeing things that apply to sorcery. In drawing there's a concept called "negative space". This involves looking at the shape of the space around objects to get an idea of how to draw them instead of looking at the objects themselves. For example, if you were drawing a horses legs the natural tendency of looking at the legs themselves and trying to draw them where you think they should be tends to produce results that are less than satisfactory. If you look at the "negative space" between the horse's legs however, you'll often see a very simple shape that you can then draw to get the legs positioned properly in your drawing. Additionally, once I've developed a bit more proficiency I'm planning to draw some of the images from my dreams. I'm sure that bringing that intent with me into dreaming can only be helpful for my dreaming awareness. I didn't pick drawing as a new not-doing for those reasons though. I just sort of thought about what I could do that I've never really done which would fit in well with my current circumstances and seemed like it could be fun. I've also just taken up cross country skiing. Picked it in a similar fashion to the way I picked drawing, although I was specifically looking for something more physical to do. I went for the second time this morning. I haven't found exactly the application to sorcery yet, but I energetically feel better for having done it. I trust I'll find some other sorceric benefits from that practice as well. So I guess whenever any of you are having trouble staying on the path and you've got nothing else, just pick something you haven't really done before that you think might be fun and do it. See how it turns out and good luck. Staying on the path of a Warrior - Littlepaw - 02-09-2014 I like the Idea of Drawing your dreams, fantastic idea. Also I think you shouldn't rule out the possibility of cross country skiing in dreams as dreaming of doing this could be a fun way to get around! As long as you dream in only snowy areas. The fact that people often fail to perceive what their senses tell them, (usually unknowingly), when that information contradicts the beliefs in their systems is not only a giant obstacle to our individual awareness; but also the cause of much pain for humanity as a group. True, most people are like dull stones in their reactons and actons. I think its more about habitualized position a tendency to act in way that is already known by the whole system of one's awareness, caused by the flighty and hedonistic nature of the awareness and the distrait state that seems to coherently answer to the subject, while in reality only perpetuates its own stationar position. In moments like that one, one has to step behind the circumstance/matter that is present to discover the true underlying pattern which is trying to seduce into same old position by not giving oneself to that "scratchy-weird-sense" often accompanied by feeling "reasonably calm - allright" about the situation , shatters the habitualized position - allowing a deeper connection with essence, uncovering the deep underlying substances that is taking place - in the presence. Staying on the path of a Warrior - NagualHuman - 02-11-2014 * Allowing to be fluid within one's own energy; using and learning the positions within self-integrity towards the world on the Toltecish and Nagualish path. Toltec = Artist Nagual = Unknown Staying on the path of a Warrior - shamanka - 02-11-2014 others 'assist' by being or intending to be impeccable with the power/awareness they have in the now, this way your natural strengths are highlighted, and your point in interaction more easily identified and 'acted' upon. this is what leads to self stalking and to competent fluidity of the AP. The more awareness the more fluid, the more you can 'be' in interaction with others. Stalking the goal of nothing, stripping all, that fixes you to being anything at all, means, that you can host anything. in interaction you than become what power, the pervading energy of the universe requires you to be. You are not fixed to 'being' anything or something. in fact at this point you could be 'everything'..interconnected with all things on the level at which, you are not distinguishable from your environment, because your environment is not perceived as being separate, from your own consciousness. the intertwining of others paths or their separateness, becomes irrelevant...unless they 'stick out' as being separate, to power itself. Contradiction within, that they are not part of power itself is mind, as it attempts to 'make sense' of why they are in our 'attention'..we are seeking the part within, which can dissolve into power, even in the perception of their separateness. Through this process, we come to let go, and let all be seen as indications of where power lies, indicating how fluid we have become within |
