To all:
After reading the many books of Castaneda I was wandering... how much time should the average awakening nagual invest in his/her self-improvement??
A couple of hours a day in inner silence? An hour of magical passes? Another of recapitulation (until he/she erases his personal history completely)?
It might sound a lot for a number of persons, but it is sort of important... after all, death is stalking us all. Time is of the essence!

He, of course Blue... the problem is that most (if not all) of us have tonal issues that keep sucking our life force (indulgences, work, family, friends,
enemies, social striving, goverment, etc).
Being a full time nagual requires great intent and a lot of sacrifice. Who of us can say in all honesty that he is living this way or, at least, working hard
towards it? Perhaps a handful.
The day has 24 hours... the average person uses 8 hours for rest/dreaming, 8 for work and 8 to do as they please.
Who uses the "free" 8 hours for nagual development? Even in my suggested schedule I only said 4 hours.

I guess if you have been recognised as a double individual by a nagual, then you can train like a nagual.
Castaneda became a pseudo nagual, and his training was fragmented. I guess you need good motivation to train full time. You have to really know what you are
doing, and why you are doing it, you need a teacher. I whanted to become a zen monk for a time, I`ve felt the calling... But life has a way like you said.

Being a Nagual or Warrior is a path that takes ALL ones time.
Everything one does is part of training or refining.
The difficult point is to change ones way to live this way.
To be alert and aware 24 hours a day...

What we need, besides the things you mentioned, is keep ourselves inspired to walk the path with a heart. If we are not inspired we won't feel a urge to
leave behind our tonal life.
As for Castaneda, he was destined to be a nagual but at the same time was destined to end that particular line of naguals.
In spite of his training under the great Juan Matus he failed in being a nagual leader. His role was reduced to make the nagual system available to everyone.
Thank God a number of individuals picked up what he left and are keeping it alive.
Being aware is a 24 hours job, of course... but reaching that 24 hours awareness is not a walk on the park.

In my opinion, the Eagle reached out to many people trough CC.
Maybe this calling for CC was greater than being a normal nagual.
I think it took a lot of balls to write these books.
They are the most pertinent books I have read on mysticism.

The Eagle did reach out to many, but it was not writing the books what made him fail as a nagual. He lacked impeccability.
As for the balls, I don't think he risked much in writing them.... he made a lot of money writing his books.
But perhaps he did risk something... he compromised his magical anonymity and expose himself to the tonals of the world. That didn't help him with his
indulgences... they multiplied and lead him to a premature death (the naguals of that line lived long, healthy lives... Juan Matus was on his eighties when he
meet Carlos and even Julian, a womanizer, lived to be more than a hundred).

When I said he had balls, I`m saying his books are straightforward and bold. They are attacks on peoples tonals. He was working peoples AP`s from a distance...
I`m not saying he risked something, but usually hi-level esoterics are kept in secrecy. He went out of that tendency and that took innovation and courage. I`m
very grateful he did what he did.
By the way you think Castaneda is dead? I don`t.

The books are rather simple: Castaneda tells his history as he remembers it. It took him several years to remember most of the things he learned in heightened
awareness and dreaming attention and they are, mostly, the teachings of Don Juan and a number of seers of his lineage.
They may be a challenge for the average tonal but the books are mostly trashed and disregarded. Flyers are relentless.
I'am a Grand Speculator... I don't know if Castaneda lives (as Castaneda or in a new body). I know nothing. Zero. I have read a lot, have some
intuition, a little practice, but nothing substantial yet. I speculate... a lot. If I knew, why would I speculate?
I try not to think much or hope for much. I don't put people on pedestals nor trash them for the fun of it. I try to see things as they are. Castaneda knew
a lot, but his achievement as a nagual was limited. The Death Defier on the other hand is virtually immortal and is, in fact, the single individual that begun
the lineage of the new seers.
To be brief I think that Castaneda's most valuable contribution to the naguals to come is that his books open the possibility of meeting the Death
Defier... a rather powerful benefactor, for those who need one.

I totally disagree, his books are not simple. They are packed with complicated knowledge, illustrated examples and creative insights. The tone of his books is
imperative in a very special way, it makes you wanna be in the desert, collecting peyote buttons with Don Juan.

I was able to correspond with Carlos through a series of letters. What Carlos did that "ruined" him was reveal through his books secrets concerning
the mystic arts. "They" punished him for that and sought and have mainly succeeded in discounting his books. Carlos wrote me that he was concerned
that "they" would seek to ruin him and that is why he did his best to keep his identity private. Nagual will act with power when and how much he will
decide.

Desmond..to answer: They are a combination of other sorcerers and those who for various reasons have sought to discredit the father of nagualism. They I refer
to are the other sorcerers in this world. Do not be fooled into believing Don Juan/ Castaneda were the only naguals in the world. There are many way more
powerful in the use of assemblage points and crossing into other worlds. They believe that this knowledge should have never been revealed to the general public
and there has been a great silencing of what Carlos sought to bring out into the world. Perhaps ruined isn't the word, its maybe "discredit",
"tarnish", "create doubt" etc. Castaneda did an amazing thing..he gave us the principles that have been hidden for most of history. We as a
world could use these guidelines to advance and save our world. I believe such knowledge should be taught to every child, every adult, and we must face our
race's parasite.

Every time someone does something for the general good it will find resistance (gross and subtle). Not only Castaneda was trashed: he was attacked... even by
the witches of his party!
Still, he wasn't impeccable. And I insist: With his training he could have done a better job. He could have been a literal Death Defier or live to be a
hundred and write a dozen more books. The predatory nature of the universe is not an excuse for his failure.
He didn't produce, directly, a single nagual apprentice or leader. His line ended with him.
Yet he planted the seeds for many others. For that I'am grateful. He is, in my "list", a great benefactor for us the seekers of the unknown.

I`ve read another author who is a master of the esoteric. He was saying that it was`nt in his favor to give out all the secrets he did. He knew that other
masters would be upset. That author in particular was talking about the way certain systems where mystified or kept secret on purpose.
I`ve read that CC received complaints from other practitioners. Personally I`m grateful, like many others, for what he did. When certain things happened to me
because of my spiritual practices, I knew I was`nt crazy because I had read about them before in the books of CC...
