Knowing Everything - Littlepaw - 11-11-2010

How does anyone come to know anything?   And what is everything?  Assuming that ''everything '' exists, then lets assume that the undoubtedly  larger portion of that everything is, as yet, to us,  unknown.    The long and short of this is, when you look at at the right way you will know everything!!!   The right way, if you like,  is  simply to subtract the unknown from the known when one does this one is left with everything known, which means we know everything!  All that is left of everything is the unknown.  This might sound a little silly, if so, think about it.  If we already know everything, then we have no excuses and we are left only with a world or a universe full of things we don't yet know.    What do you think?

Knowing Everything - Gonzo - 11-11-2010

I think it doesn't matter. As was said of Bodhidharma..."I only grant he knows...I don't allow he understands."

Knowing Everything - Littlepaw - 11-11-2010

Well it matters to me Gonzo! Perhaps I shouldn't have asked you.

Knowing Everything - Littlepaw - 11-11-2010

Who is Bodhidharma anyway?

Knowing Everything - Gonzo - 11-11-2010

Bodhidharma reputedly was the guy who brought Buddhism from India to China.

"How does anyone come to know anything?"

We don't really know anything because what we know will change, so its not what we know at all. Its simply what we know at a given point in time, on this point the everything is assembled. But what is its value in the next point in time? No one knows, it remains to be seen, and when its seen its known.

Knowing Everything - Littlepaw - 11-12-2010

Yes wei,

Everything is assembled at a given point. There are no gaps in perception or the interrelationship of life.

wow! I am stupid! I really should have known that one.

My perception is, that we are part of the everything..the 'all that is' and therefore, as we are everything, we know everything. Some of us, know the nothing too,but to know that you are part of the nothing, you must know the difference and so, have a part in the everything too.

Now 'remembering' the everything or the nothing...that's a different matter. one must intend to know, as in any creative process.

With the affirmation of knowing either, one surely does...for you acknowledge your connection to it and your part within it.

Knowing Everything - Littlepaw - 11-12-2010

Yes when you put it like that , you can't not know everything, otherwise you would end up knowing nothing! LOL

Knowing Everything - Blue totem - 11-12-2010

Actually, Gonzo is wrong.
Boddhidarma didnt bring buddhism to China.
He is the first patriarch of Chan.
Yes Gonzo ''Chan'', not buddhism.
Boddhidarma had nothing to do with buddhism....
He learned Chan from a Bhraman, so Chan has its roots in Bhramanism.

Knowing Everything - Mornings Son - 11-13-2010

Yes Buddhism was in China. Bodhidharma brought the Enlighten state of Mind (Zen?) to China - In zen there is a transmission beyond words. That Shakamuni (the Buddha) realized and then transmitted to Mahakasho (Maha Kashyapa) and he to the next in the lineage (one or more persons)

Bodhidharma brought the lineage to China.

He also invented Kung Fu and accidently created the tea plant when he ripped of his eye lashes and thought them out of his cave.

Amazing man he was... A tiny little like Christ.

By the way what is the use to know everything - Who would not be insane and get a very big head - if he knew all that everybody do, say and think? I would settle with to knowing what I need to know to follow my path with Heart.

Knowing Everything - Wei Shan Yang - 11-13-2010

MS, I see why you ask that question...

To me knowing everything meant somethign not what it sounds like. It meant alignment, everything aligned producing a harmonious agreement. Its temporary and changing though, so its actually not known beyond that moment it aligns, and it will align again and again in different ways but always a completeness...no gaps in perception, like Littlepaw said.

Knowing Everything - shamanka - 11-13-2010

ahhhh, but the 'nothing' is the everything, usually when you are in the everything...you only know 'something'.

from the nothing you have the choice of everything.

In the everything you have only chosen to know something of that.

in my perception you can know everything if you are in the nothing and the everything at the same time...making you truly know 'all that is', 'all that isn't' and 'everything in between'...lol xx

Whirl Whirl, Makes me think about my poi. I have two little green balls with green tails, strings attach them to my fingers and I spin them around, weaving patterns in the air. Its very relaxing but always reminds me that I am still a show off. Speaking of showing off, check out this guy! Too much spare time on his paws right?

Knowing Everything - Littlepaw - 12-01-2010

I could do that.
