A better metaphor for it would be a tool or a domestic plant, maybe genetically modified corn would be best or the plow since along with that came domestication on a mass scale. Weeds are fine, many edible, many medicinal, entheogenic etc, they carry the variety genetically and are of the wild: willful, strong, intelligent survivor thrivers. They are the roots of us.

yeah it is as are some potatoes and probably a bunch of others, still eat some weeds and go into trance and you will see them in your dancing, i experienced that once. I have been noticing a plant, usually growing near corn fields that looks much like corn only weedier, i am wondering are these 3rd or 4th generation corn gone wild again plants or something else like sorghum?? that isn't grown around here much anymore but these resemble what I think sorghum looks like having only seen it once
an interesting book is The Botany of Desire tracing the genetics of the mary lady, potatoes, johnny's apple seeds, and the uber-refined tulips and their relationship to human desire.
may you write more on tackling the flier sometime?

Mornings Son This book is one of my all time favourites. Also great is Blavatsky's Voice of the Silence, in the same league.

it won't make the foreign mind go away, but at least it wont be getting your energy.
