Upanishads - Guest - 05-22-2015 KNOW THYSELF This is for those just beginning on the path of Freedom - this is the way of Light - and through this intent all work will be blessed by God. I would like to recommend reading the Upanishads, the link is below. Through reading this book one may be united with their true Self, which is to be One with God. Yesterday I was united again with God through direct perception of the truth that (I paraphrase the book here) we are drops in the Ocean (God), the true Self is like God , infinite, omnipresent, immortal. One drop may be united with the whole and witness this truth (true Self), or if still under the rule of the senses, may see themselves as just a drop and separate (the 'lower' self) - yet may witness this truth through 'Karma', in this sense Karma means Good action with Surrender to God, the self-less act. This to me summed up:the warriors way - impeccabilitysorcery - by being at one with God, the true Self may achieve the true Willseeing - beholding the 'cause' of everything as well as it's manifestation - at the same time- is true Seeing, and this is to see and connect with God through an 'object' or person, etcthe Nagual - We are all part of the Ocean, and the Nagual is this, we can connect to any other, to find Knowledge of anything, etcand death defying - to be One with God is to be immortal, as it is unification with the Soul, the true Self which is like God, as explained above - to achieve this in life is to be a death defier. It is the way of Freedom above all. To identify totally with the true Self is to see God in every thing, to be One with God always. The book also showed me that the Logos, the word, is 'AUM', which represents the entirety of creation. This is something which is too detailed to go into here, and is presented beautifully in the book. I see that to say this word is truly to be One with God. There are many versions of the text, the link below is the version that i read and is well commented http://www.vivekananda.net/PDFBooks/The_Upanishads.pdf Upanishads - Guest - 05-22-2015 To walk the path of Heart, is to know God within your Heart, it is to enjoy life, to be One with God, following your Heart, being your true Self Upanishads - Guest - 05-22-2015 suspension of judgement/ID- accrued inner silence- inner silence allows the respite needed for the true Self to emerge Upanishads - Mornings Son - 05-22-2015 I wondered about what new age stuff transitions had posted. Only to find it is old age India stuff )))) God... I have to translate it to something else as I'm not a fan (to say it polite) of Christianity, Jewish belief (whatever it is called) and Islam. Its good that you transitions found something that inspires you and give you meaning )))) Truth is a jewel with many facets - Upanishad is one of them Now what is the Upanishads??? Wiki says:The Upanishads (/uːˈpænɪˌʃædz, uːˈpɑːnɪˌʃɑːdz/;[1] singular: Sanskrit: उपनिषत्, IAST: Upaniṣat,IPA: [upəniʂət̪]; plural: Sanskrit: उपनिषदः) are a collection of texts in the Vedic Sanskritlanguage[2] which contain the earliest emergence of some of the central religious concepts ofHinduism, some of which are shared with Buddhism and Jainism.[2][note 1][note 2] The Upanishads are considered by Hindus to contain revealed truths (Sruti) concerning the nature of ultimate reality (brahman) and describing the character and form of human salvation (moksha). The Upanishads are sometimes referred to as Vedanta, variously interpreted to mean either the "last chapters, parts of the Veda" or "the object, the highest purpose of the Veda".[3] The concepts of Brahman (Ultimate Reality) and Ātman (Soul, Self) are central ideas in all theUpanishads,[4][5] and "Know your Ātman" their thematic focus.[5][6] The Upanishads are the foundation of Hindu philosophical thought and its diverse traditions.[7][8] Of the Vedic corpus, they alone are widely known, and the central ideas of the Upanishads are at the spiritual core of Hindus.[7][9] More than 200 Upanishads are known, of which the first dozen or so are the oldest and most important and are referred to as the principal or main (mukhya) Upanishads. The mukhyaUpanishads are found mostly in the concluding part of the Brahmanas and Aranyakas[10] and were, for centuries, memorized by each generation and passed down verbally. The early Upanishads all predate the Common Era, some in all likelihood pre-Buddhist (6th century BCE),[11] down to the Maurya period.[12] Of the remainder, some 95 Upanishads are part of the Muktika canon, composed from about the start of common era through medieval Hinduism. New Upanishads, beyond the 108 in the Muktika canon, continued to being composed through the early modern and modern era,[13] though often dealing with subjects which are unconnected to the Vedas.[14] Along with the Bhagavad Gita and the Brahmasutra the mukhya Upanishads (known collectively as the Prasthanatrayi),[15] provide a foundation for the several later schools ofVedanta, among them, two influential monistic schools of Hinduism.[note 3][note 4][note 5] With the translation of the Upanishads in the early 19th century they also started to attract attention from a western audience. Schopenhauer was deeply impressed by the Upanishads and called it "the production of the highest human wisdom".[16] The 19th centurytranscendentalists noted the influence of the Upanishads in western philosophy.[17][18] Upanishads - Guest - 05-22-2015 hi Mornings Son, thanks for the context, i just figured that people would look into it if interested, yet i see that people might not just 'take my word' for it, so thanks for showing me this, and that i sound like a new-ager (oh no! if you feel the need to 'replace' God, all i can suggest is the Nagual- infinite, omnipresent, the abstract. we are all One in the Nagual, i would say that this is being One with God, and see that to me God is the Nagual. Upanishads - Mornings Son - 05-22-2015 You are welcome transitions )) it was Upanishads that sounded new age to me, not you. God, Tao, Spirit, the Force, etc. I saw where you finger pointed. AUM represents the entirety of creation, you write. Is creation understood as the tonal? if so it would be 'the sound of tonal' Upanishads - Guest - 05-23-2015 Ok, i copied a relevant section from the book below with the comment too, i see it will be more context.. the way you see it is correct, the tonal could be related to creation, as it says below the word corresponds to the Logos, the word 'which was "in the beginning"'.. XIV NACHIKETAS said: That which thou seest, which is neither virtue nor vice, neither cause nor effect, neither past nor future (but beyond these), tell me That. XV YAMA replied: That goal which all the Vedas glorify, which all austerities proclaim, desiring which (people) practice Brahmacharya (a life of continence and service), that goal I tell thee briefly - it is Aum. COMMENT:What name can man give to God? How can the Infinite be bound by any finite word? All that language can express must be finite, since it is itself finite. Yet it is very difficult for mortals to think or speak of anything without calling it by a definite name. Knowing this, the Sages gave to the Supreme the name A-U-M, which stands as the root of all language. The first letter "A" is the mother-sound, being the natural sound uttered by every creature when the throat is opened, and no sound can be made without opening the throat. The last letter "M," spoken by closing the lips, terminates all articulation. As one carries the sound from the throat to the lips, it passes through the sound "U." These three sounds therefore cover the whole field of possible articulate sound. Their combination is called the Akshara or the imperishable word, the Sound-Brahman or the Word-God, because it is the most universal name which can be given to the Supreme. Hence it must be the word which was "in the beginning" and corresponds to the Logos of Christian theology. It is because of the all-embracing significance of this name that it is used so universally in the Vedic Scriptures to designate the Absolute. Upanishads - Mornings Son - 05-23-2015 I like the sound theory - as sound is a vibration and to see all existence/forms as having a vibration is a 'picture' of reality I like. Can't say I have any proff of it being so though )) Now on step further (maybe) Beside being a nice story of 'why' the world came, do you have any experience with chanting the word AUM, if so what is the effect? Upanishads - Guest - 05-23-2015 when i read that part, i saw that the word represented the entirety of creation - the only way i can describe it is that i saw it as the comment shows, going through each letter.. i saw, like a movie, God creating heaven and earth through this word, the same image i see when reading Genesis.. and it was helpful that you pointed out that this is like the tonal, makes sense to me. yes the word AUM is in a lot of books, and i have used mantras containing the word in meditation to achieve inner silence, such as AUM TAT SAT AUM, etc.. i wrote of this word in the op as i saw how significant this word is whilst reading that part of the book. as i was reading the book i started being my true Self, and i directly experienced being One with God, it seemed to be that i shifted into this as a permanent state, and i was worried that i would lose it.. i woke up the next day feeling like my usual self again, and saw the difference straight away.. and just the memory of the moment described above where i saw the word represented the entirety of creation brought the experience back, and i vibrated the word (which to me means saying the word and feeling the vibration at the same time) AUM and i was back to being One with God instantly.. i see that this word is useful now, having read about it during the experience of being One with God, as a way to bring this experience back.. really i am always connected with the infinite and i just kept forgetting.. Upanishads - Guest - 05-23-2015 i also saw that there is no difference between the true Self and energy body, and i see how i could say the same thing with different words, that in this experience, i connected with my energy body which is always a part of the nagual, it is to identify with the energy body rather than the physical body, to identify with the abstract.. Upanishads - Mornings Son - 05-23-2015 transitions wrote:when i read that part, i saw that the word represented the entirety of creation - the only way i can describe it is that i saw it as the comment shows, going through each letter.. i saw, like a movie, God creating heaven and earth through this word, the same image i see when reading Genesis..Beautiful pictures emerged in my mind when I read this ))))so when you chant AUM, your AP shifts. That is a good tool you got there man! What is the True Self? - It is just me wondering about your words... Upanishads - Guest - 05-23-2015 i used true Self as a way of relating concepts in the book to Castanedian concepts, i like the term, yet i also like energy body, i see they are the same thing. the way i see it, my true self is the natural state of inner silence, it is the true Self as it is before the physical body steps in with it's consciousness (internal dialog / judgements). i see that i was identifying with the physical body, and that now - by identifying with the true Self, or the energy body, i enter into inner silence, and can stop / direct my ID at will, and also see (as castaneda describes) the true essence of anything.. the reason for this i see that the true Self or the energy body is directly connected with everything, the nagual or God, the true Self is a pure being of light and immortal like God (as it is a drop in the Ocean).. there is no difference between the state of inner silence and when i say i have identified with my true Self. this is what don Juan described as identifying with the abstract. the true Self sees the world in terms of energy, the physical body perceives in terms of objects. i see that the true Self is using the physical body as a vehicle to experience reality, when i say this i mean that the physical body is a projection and the true Self is like the energy body underlying the physical body. i feel that i am just starting to understand all of this myself, so my seeing may not be 100% accurate, yet i must practice Upanishads - Mornings Son - 05-23-2015 yup. practice Seeing is needed, as it is a brand new reality with no known points of reference etc. ))) True self, for me, is Buddha Nature and I am not sure if it is the same as the energy body. There might be more to True Self than energy body. For some reason i continue to be reminded of the old Egyptian way of looking at a human life. As I recall it they operate with 7 different kinds of 'souls' Anyway it has been good to meet you transitions )))) Upanishads - Guest - 05-23-2015 i got a quote from the book to back me up on the true Self = energy body idea. reading this part, i saw that they were the same.. VIIIHe (the Self) is all-encircling, resplendent, bodiless, spotless, without sinews, pure, untouched by sin, all-seeing, all-knowing, transcendent, self-existent; He has disposed all things duly for eternal years. Comment:This text defines the real nature of the Self. When our mind is cleansed from the dross of matter, then alone can we behold the vast, radiant, subtle, ever-pure and spotless Self, the true basis of our existence.Yes, it is nice to meet you too Mornings Son, thanks for asking some good questions.. Upanishads - Mornings Son - 05-23-2015 This remind me of zen master Rinzai's words The man of no rank that come and go though this 5 feet of red flesh HAVE YOU MET HIM YET? LOOK LOOK Upanishads - serloco - 05-24-2015 yeah its beautiful knowledge transitions, and right on the money too.. correct in every way i see it.. thanks for posting it.. Upanishads - Billy - 05-24-2015 Upanishads, Power of Now, A Course in Miracles, Etc............................................etcetera... DO you really want to hold all of that in your awareness?? Do you? What matters (wink): Mindfully paying attention; On purpose, in the present moment, nonjudgmentally-- in my particular way.” Upanishads - Mornings Son - 05-25-2015 billyMaps (Upanishads, Power of Now, A Course in Miracles, Etc ) are great to give you a bearing, but yes you don't need the map when you found the way. What matters... you write sound zen ))) Upanishads - Guest - 05-25-2015 Upanishads - Guest - 08-21-2019 Upanishads - Guest - 08-21-2019 Upanishads - Guest - 08-21-2019 |
