Dhammapada - WE ARE WHAT WE THINK - Mornings Son - 05-24-2010 Ch. I. Twin Verses (Yamaka-vaggo):All that we are is the result of what we have thought: it is founded on our thoughts, it is made up of our thoughts. If a man speaks or acts with an evil thought, pain follows him, as the wheel follows the foot of the ox that draws the carriage. All that we are is the result of what we have thought: it is founded on our thoughts, it is made up of our thoughts. If a man speaks or acts with a pure thought, happiness follows him, like a shadow that never leaves him. For hatred does not cease by hatred at any time: hatred ceases by love, this is an old rule. - "What you think upon grows. Whatever you allow to occupy your mind you magnify in your life. Whether the subject of your thought be good or bad, the law works and the condition grows. Any subject that you keep out of your mind tends to diminish in your life, because what you do not use atrophies. The more you think of grievances, the more such trials you will continue to receive; the more you think of the good fortune you have had, the more good fortune will come to you." --Emmet Fox from Make Your Life Worthwhile, 1942 Dhammapada - WE ARE WHAT WE THINK - Blue totem - 05-24-2010 This all sounds very good, but! Look at the Tibetan people for example. A nation of peace, and what did they get? Chinese invasion... Did hapiness follow the Tibetan people? No. Look at the small children in africa living in trash up to their knees, looking for scraps of plastic to sell. Did hapiness follow them? No. Look at Da pimp, all he wanted was to sing and dance, and did he get it? No. We all know examples of people who do good and are suffering, and of poeple who do bad and are quite good. We never know what to expect from our karma... Dhammapada - WE ARE WHAT WE THINK - Tiff - 05-25-2010 The link between thoughts and feelings is key. A good thought will resonate a good feeling. So what's a good thought? A selfless thought. A thought not wrapped up in concern of what one gets. But how to develop such thoughts? One needs a fertile playing field...that's the earth. And its often the beggars of this world, the down and out, that get the most opportunity to do this cultivation. There are beggars here where I live. I often look into their eyes because I like the quality they express. They ask for my money but sometimes I don't see the need for it in their eyes. So its like they are doing something on the outside, and feeling something entirely different on the inside. This fascinates me. How there's so much unknown. In this world, the lovers are hated and exploited, the givers of love and light are crucified and the happy are envied. The tonal of the times plays against spiritually driven individuals. It is not karma but context. Nagual Stalking becomes imperative in order to survive this cannibalistic world. Growing beyond the onslaughts of the demented tonals is a necessity. PS: Sing and dance are coming up. giggles Dhammapada - WE ARE WHAT WE THINK - Lunoor - 05-25-2010 Glad to hear that singing and dancing is coming up, is it coming now or later? just belt me a tune and send via message when it comes, i would love to hear you sing! as always though as you like it Dhammapada - WE ARE WHAT WE THINK - Da Pimp - 05-25-2010 Lunoor wrote:Glad to hear that singing and dancing is coming up, is it coming now or later? just belt me a tune and send via message when it comes, i would love to hear you sing! as always though as you like it Later.
