Taoist Secrets of Love, Cultivating Male Sexual Energy - Mantak Chia - Julio Juliopolis - 03-24-2014 Available to be read free online at http://www.scribd.com/doc/2656200/Manta ... ual-Energy This book offers a step by step guide to harnessing, transforming, and storying male sexual energy. From there it offers a step by step guide to cultivating and sharing sexual energy between men and women, in a way that seeks to raise up both. The author has written several companion pieces, (including one directed specifically for women to cultivate their own sexual energy), although they are not necessary to understand how to practice the techniques. In the first part of the book, Mantak explains the different types of energy and how to transform chiang (sexual energy) to chi ("human electrical energy") to shien (spiritual energy). He then does a very good job arguing the necessity of cultivating male sex energy for both physical health and spiritual development. If you're unsure of the necessity of this, I suggest reading part 1 of the book to see why it is so vital. Although having said that, I admit that he does get a little far-fetched in places. I'd say 90% of it is pretty convincing stuff, 9% of it is stuff that I say "I'm not sure about that", and the other 1% is just outright absurd. For example, at one point he tries to demonstrate a link between too much ejaculation and a loss of moral character by arguing that a man who has just committed rape is likely to commit murder as well due to having just ejaculated. Try not to be dismissive of the work because of that though, because on the whole its very good. Once he's convinced you of the need, he explains in great detail the steps to what he calls "testicle breathing", which is a technique for increasing the amount of chiang energy; and the technique of "the microcosmic orbit", which transforms and circulates that energy throughout your body. Naturally semen retention is necessary for this, as the sperm carries its energy with it out of the body during ejaculation. Keep in mind that it is this energy from the sperm that one circulates when doing the microcosmic orbit, (and also similar exercises such as the raising of the kundalini). The taoists have some techniques for mastering semen retention as well, which if practiced will lead to eventually being able to avoid loss of sperm during intercourse with a woman, and Mantak teaches those as well. The next part goes into more advanced techniques and techniques to use with a woman. Additionally, we get a lot more theory. He makes a pretty good case for exchanging energy with a woman and trying to work together to lift both of you up and avoiding greedily holding onto your energy. Unfortunately, he really becomes repetitive at this point, still arguing the benefits of semen retention and energy storage and transformation. He tells us where this will lead in excrutiating detail and it becomes a very slow read at this point. This is my main criticism with the book, and it makes it hard to keep reading. I was convinced on page 30, I don't still need to be sold the idea on page 180. It gets quite a bit better when he gets to a long question and answer section with his students, followed by firsthand accounts of several people who've practiced the techniques for some time. I haven't read the last few chapters yet, but I'll give a quick overview. Chapter 14 is called "Practical guidelines for keeping sex radiant and healthy". I read through the list of headings in that chapter, each one being one of the guidelines, and the only reason I could see for bothering to read the explanations under each heading if you are inclined to disagree or are really interested in them. Chapter 15 is called "Excersises to increase male potency" and its headings make it look like a hodgepodge of optional tangentally related techniques to the ones explained earlier; along with some other things that probably just didn't fit anywhere else like "How to avoid wet dreams", "how to enlarge and elongate the penis", "Harmonious energy for the homosexual", "how to aborb energy from the sun", etc. Chapter 16 is about using acupuncture, herbs, and moxibustion to strengthen sexual energy; chapter 17 is an overview of female sexual organs; chapter 18 is a summary. Overall, I'd say this is an excellent guide to the techniques it illustrates, and is worth looking at to those interested in them. I've been working on the basic techniques and am keeping this bookmarked as a reference for when I'm ready for the more advanced ones.
