I think, for me anyway, part of it is needing to feel a pulse in the earth. Wind works too, but its different experience then vibrations in the earth. This last summer, I finally got talked to go out with my siblings we went to the Santa Monica peer with my nephew and brother/sister. I could hardly walk on the sand, even far up the beach it felt like jello to me, i was sure i was going to sink...the vibrations of people walking i felt and the waves were too much. finally i waded into the surf to my waist and stood there for who knows how long. First time i ever really went into the ocean even a little. It was a different but similar feeling. I still more comfortable with Eq's and desert wind. More a part of my perception now so the lack is like being sick. Gah a caravan of those harold camping people were in the parkinglot in their good news the world will end soon rv's. Must have been late august. The feel of the waves, the sand, the wind i needed to explain what those people were saying handing out to a seven year old. Not to just make fun of them, but explain why someone would see that as good news, and why it was not to be as they say, but only as my opinion. The pull of the sea helped make that much more clear. I can only imagine that sea bringing such devastation as it did to your area. But ill feel micro quakes so deep and they are like caresses, like the wind. Seen large ones were buildings fall down people die...its the same sorta, like a breeze is the same as a tornado...but also not at all.
