MY COMMENT
Wow! I have to admit this is without a doubt the most powerful Sam Harris video I have ever seen. He makes a lot of very valid points!
Let me state that I was an atheist before my first near-death experience. All together I have now had five near-death experiences and eagerly await a noble death to present itself for I KNOW that those who die honorable deaths have an eternity of rewards to look forward to.
I now believe that what you SAY you believe in is rather irrelevant. If you live a life of secret, persistent evil and feel you don't have to worry because you repent for a few hours every Sunday then go back to doing evil on Monday. Well, I personally feel such people are indeed in for a horrible surprise when they die
I used to be depressed because I would judge God by how He, apparently, treated others. Then I learned that if I am to judge God I should only judge God by how God treats ME PERSONALLY. How God treats others is none of my business!! This truth brought me out of depression and keeps me out of depression.
So, do I have any reasons to be grateful and appreciative for the blessings of God in my life? I SURE DO!! If I am truly wise I will celebrate my blessings and not feel miserable because others have, APPARENTLY, not received such blessings.
Who knows whether or not we have all chosen to live these lives DELIBERATELY. If so, everyone is where they have chosen to be and are suffering whatever they have chosen to suffer before coming into this life
Since this may indeed be true I will celebrate my good fortune when disaster strikes other and DOES NOT STRIKE ME!
Sam Harris refuses to do this. He OBVIOUSLY doesn't consider how fortunate he has been and judges God by the miseries others experience.
Yes, humans are a crazy lot, but it just may be that the Earth is a WONDROUS MUSEUM and God is entertaining Himself by playing with His PUPPET TOYS. This just may very well be the case. Under such circumstances I do not see it as wise to be ungrateful for the good and the wonderful I have been blessed with. I see it as wise to celebrate my good fortune in order to, hopefully, attract and manifest EVEN MORE GOOD FORTUNE!!!
I believe, the best the Universe has to offer is NOT for those who ****, moan and complain because OTHERS are not as fortunate as ourselves!
