Out of curiosity I did some searching
It seems they do not make these Fender Starcaster Stratocasters anymore!!
I guess they felt they were too good for the price and were curtailing the sales
of their expensive Fender Stratocasters
some going for over $4,000.00!!!!
There was just one black one left in stock at Amazon
going for $144.00 WITH SHIPPING!!!!!
I'll probably hate myself in the morning, but...
I just couldn't pass it up
...considering they are obviously not made anymore
The same company that makes the Gold Top Les Paul copy, currently on its way to me, also makes a Fender Stratocaster copy
http://www.monoprice.com/Product?c_id=1 ... 1&format=2
This being the case I've decided to cancel this order of the black Starcaster
I've also decided that it's pointless to modify a multi-thousand-dollar guitar with better pickups
However, modifying a cheap copy and making it sound like a multi-thousand-dollar guitar
makes a lot more sense, when you think about it
