I'm not saying I disagree with you. Medication isn't the solution. There are scientific research studies which have proven brain chemical imbalances can be addressed with medication. However, the brain is a complex computer and doctors still struggle with knowing which buttons to push. Medications are a short term fix if they're used at all. That is the best crappiest solution available.
Certain types of psychosis can be treated without medication. Some, like schizophrenia, is a brain structure abnormality. You can't fix that with therapy or medication (but there is medication available and it's a lifetime medication).
I agree with you, mental health is largely struggling to properly treat people who are atypical. Then again, society struggles with being environmentally friendly, with terrorists, and finding a friendly political climate. Us Earthlings are largely inept in our problem solving attempts. Why only complain about the shrinks?
