You think the only reason to want to be a nagual is for self gratification? You should examine that judgment. I can see it.
I remember when I read the quran. It was beautiful and directed you to God. I didnt read every word but I enjoyed what I read. I am a little different then most people though. I have my own way and experience my own world. Therefor someone else's experience of something like reading the quran would be different then my experience with it. I let others reap what they sow. I call your version a monster book. Maybe you have seen harry potter? Well assuming you haven't I suggest loving the book first. Give it good energies. It really will move your experience to a higher level. You should try it. It's magical. In the movie you have to pet the book first. I call it setting up the book.
