Watergaze, I think when a society shifts their priorities away from something then extinction occurs. If we're missing a large portion of a generation of elders who were healers, the skill is no longer needed or considered unnecessary. We are flooded with dysfunctional populations so obviously, the need is higher. Healers, of the shaman variety, don't support the agenda. They're not going to prescribe medication from for-profit companies. Shamans support natural healing: naturopathy. There's not a profitable way to support that agenda. Naturopaths aren't covered by most insurance plans.
The government has its own agenda and is ruthless in the pursuit of winning that competition. Don't even get me started on the impact prescription opioids play in healthcare. The entire thing is a mess.
