The art of thinking.
#22
serloco- ...After years of this battle of the mind... I reached a safe point. I saw that it was not the power of the thoughts it was the power of the choice. The decision... no longer could thought impulses do what they used to do. Thoughts became weaker, they took the back burner to choice, decision, acceptance... And, even when i couldnt think for myself the thoughts were emptied out and hollow, echoes of what they used to be. I did not place power in them anymore. I removed all the power in the thoughts, and placed them with my choice, my decision. That was a great day.

This is detachment.. and you are describing the workings and freedom of Billy.  I'll add here, that a 'set aside' meditation augments the living process.  I am quick to note/know that meditation is not a separate form.  That is, living need incorporate what is the meditative quality.  Practice without such unity renders both meditation and life rather impotent.

So, at the onset of sitting for meditation, I am aware there is no call to change anything.  I see how I am (thoughts, feelings, stressors, occupations, bodily sensations, visuals and sounds, etc. simply noticed---> and there is 'no thing' like distraction.. I mean, what arises is real, and all I do is watch real arise.  Does that make sense?   AND, in 'normal' living action, I am deciding that this meditative function (letting be) pervades my awareness as THE primary choice.  [THIS becomes more habitual]

The challenge is not to divest consequential decision making (or consequential anything) of the detachment habit being developed.  More mastery here begets the quality of fluidity in the state termed 'controlled folly.'
This term is useful to describe the resultant 'safe point' serloco describes--->  awareness still has all the thoughts, feelings, stressors, occupations, bodily sensations, visuals and sounds, BUT without the consuming identity with them.

Julio, when I attacked you, this was as real as could be....  yet, I held none of the associated baggage. I had the normal worry and thought that proceeded that 'extreme' choice and action, but I was free enough.
There are many nuances in living that are not normally experienced.  When you reach this point I am at, you are apt to pay attention to fluctuations (especially of emotions).  Nothing has to be rigid (your mind is rigid).

I can savor what is unpalatable to most.  The communion I have with Kaomea has become a smorgasbord of devious delight for me, and I love my dark villainous nature.  [My god, I hardly think she is overmatched (smile)]  I CAN choose whatever persona at any time (I have that much control of myself).  I am truly having fun.

Besides determining that Billy is an +@#**%*, what else, Julio?  Have you looked into the neuroscience demonstrating that consciousness of choice occurs AFTER neurons determination?  Illusion?  What?

the art [biology] of thinking (lol)

Oh well, serloco always has Jesus preceding his thinking for him.  Kaomea, I MISS your words, honey.
