Long ago I entered on the shamans way and from that time and on I have had good interaction and help from my spirit friends and teachers.
Don Juan's and Julian's allies is another kind of powerful spirits aka inorganic beings. I have encountered a few of them, allies to sorcerer friends.
Alien beings very rock or water energy ... Elemental Spirits?
I'm happy that I have not followed Don Juan's way with that kind of spirits
They are powerful, but seem to be a kind to burden to one of my friends...water type jobs...
