Memory
#6
ah, thanks for this..really helped me out. yes, its funny reading this i realised that i had a 'problem' with memory a while ago and i rewrote this by intending my brain to store memories more logically, i read about how in this guys way of putting it the mind has its own language called mentalese, and the problem we have remembering things is due to the conversion between this mentalese and a actual thought in your head, like the way that binary is converted into all the stuff computers do. this guy claimed that this mentalese is stored in hierarchical structure so that the best way to teach someone (this is a guy's teaching/learning theory im summing up so check the link) is to relate the stuff to what they already know, that way its assimilated into this structure easier, pretty straight forward, but it helped me to imagine this happening in my brain and my memory became easily accessible, and it really helped with learning complicated things as i can file things away in this structure. now i see how what i've actually been doing is more like what you talk about, it feels like its all stored somewhere, in reality as you say, at the time i thought it was all my imagination, which i now understand in completely different way. and now i will start working on storing the shifts that i make in this way, really good post serloco.
ok heres something from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Language_o ... hypothesisIn philosophy of mind, the language of thought hypothesis (LOTH) put forward by American philosopher Jerry Fodor describes thoughts as represented in a "language" (sometimes known as mentalese)
that allows complex thoughts to be built up by combining simpler
thoughts in various ways. In its most basic form, the theory states that
thought follows the same rules as language: thought has syntax.
the other stuff that i was reading was from geoff petty's evidence based learning the actual relevant parts seem to be unavailable to link to
