I think DJ later said ruthlessness was not the best word. Anyway, for me pity means 'concern for self" and does not take into account the whole. So to have no pity is to be free of that, a freedom which can bear many positive feelings... unconditional kindness, love, joy...or it could be just clear mindedness. What is detached is the social view, so the place of no pity does not understand, identify nor want to, the socailized perspective, dual perception, and labeling of things good and bad, us and them etc.
