The Eagle's vision you have in not totally correct, i did explain the part with the two eyes. Now i will explain about it's eating habits, using the Matrix analogy you may find more suitable then any other form i could present.
Upon it's awakening to the dream world Neo is very disturbed by the vision of the dead being fed intravenously to the living, also by the growing of the humans in cocoons, in some way it finds the nature of the Source cruel and unfair. However if the Source is assimilated with a living organism it feels natural what it does because like everything alive it eats, disposes of the waste and continues existence. Something was incorrect from the knowledge of this liniage regarding the Eagle: it does not eat human awareness what it eats is the broken light fibers that once created a human cocoon. Assimilating the gift it receives from a being that cannot exist further in that form it understands what that was and the purpose loss also it sees the error that lead to it's destruction. Using what it saw when it consumed the light fibers with re assemble the human being that passed as soon as it finds suitable ascendants that are able to produce that kind of luminosity.
I write this because the void cocoons i met do not know what is their purpose and do not see how do they fit in this picture, the knowledge on what they are was lost. So i took two of them with me in a dream i had last night to show them what happens before a mass death like a bus crash. They were riding the bus while i was sitting outside of it in a field, somehow they figured that what they do is wrong. When i saw both walking next to me i showed them a flickering point looking like a rock where the resultant intent of the people in the bus touches the Earth. I showed them to follow/search for such point, cut the fibers as mass not one by one, then harvest the luminosity the dead beings left behind for themselves and those that depend on them because it will nourish and heal their bodies. I showed them what is their purpose, they are harvesters of human awareness their next step would be to learn to reassemble correctly a being based on the life experience they consumed. For know if they understand this much is fine.
