Hi Lonewolf,
I finally got a copy of Amy Wallace's book. The first pages confirmed my suspicions. He was uncontrolled, sexually. Don Juan's remarks were aimed at that. If you recall my posts over the years, you may recall how I see it. don Juan did say that knowledge is a personal affair, and, before I even came here I learned that Spirit sent through another being is likely distorted. I don't follow mediums, channelers because of this, although I have listened to it, and reflected what is useful.
I always wondered why Castaneda would stay in El Lay. Looks like he went Hollywood.
My folly is that I see a Shaman as a guide for the village, the family, a protector against the foe. Further, experience taught me that there are some who are leaders by virtue of what we here would call the Nagual, the 4 sectional luminous egg visible to a seer. By the books, don Juan was mistaken about Carlos. His desires misled him. Man, I oughta know, as my desires, have too often blinded me to SEEING clearly, certainly in the sexual area.
What say you , about this book and my comments? I will try to Recap if necessary, although it is likely boring and repetitive
I add this: I understand the uses of true sorcery. The don Juan stories indicated that. Deception is not always a bad thing. The Gypsies and carnies did this traditionally to protect their own, for survival, as did indigenous Shamen. Surely it was rarely used against family, as Wallace claims that Carlos did. And I do understand that the Nagual, or any Shamanistic society was a clan with its own rules, but this wasn't applied to everyone as not everyone can be a priest.
