Now , I am going to conradict your post, so please relax.
First, human relations with animals are generally a learned ability; so are human relations with humans! Either can Kill you!
Yet, either one can also show heart, kindness.
So, if one has ability, like a horse whisperer, or a good attitude at least, there is likely a good outcome when the two species meet.
Heard about the SF, Cal Zoo incident? I think we will find that the victims brought about their own pain.
Equality in all things is one of the best teachings of the Castaneda books. Then again, the flipside is that Death can come for no reason. Or, are there reasons we don't see? There have been two Black Bear killings of humans in my area these past 6 years or so; an historical abberation in an environmentally distorted time. (I can't help but cite Hitchcock's "The Birds" )
Here's another Idea for you.
The Indians, the Native Americans, before the Conquest, were survivors. As far as I can find, disease and death were rare compared to modern society. Why?
The answer is simple: Adaptation.
And, natural selection.
They learned to live within their environment, and the foolish, weak and stupid were were removed by Evolutionary forces.
The other side of that is that the Europeans, and their Infections were an evolutionary force as well.

Some speak of the year 2012. I am beginning to wonder.
Check Google: there is an area in the North Atlantic Ocean, larger that Texas, and up to 1000 feet deep, filled with garbage, mostly plastic; apparently a dead zone between the currents.
