Many years ago I read Sidhartha. One thing stuck with me.
He began as a member of a privileged priestly caste. A son of a priest, I think. From there he traveled and had to ultimately experience the absolute nadir of human existence before he was through with his journey.
He had to reach the end of himself before becoming enlightened.
Comparing it to my own experience I would say that that is a Truth.
