Hi Phanriver,
"Really pretty much anything anyone posts can be perceived as boasting. Any experience shared can have that quality of "look at me, look at what
happened to me."
You are right. But we have to deal with that throughout all aspects of life. It is a matter of weeding out those who can be trusted from those who cannot. And
the ego can be so subtle that we do not always know our own motives.
So, in that sense there is no one single intent of telling a tale of power. So you can just sit back and enjoy the tale with out wondering of the motive or you
can analyse the intent of the person relating the tale. And you can even doubt the veracity of the tale. Or take it as gospel truth.
Your choice.
"Depends on the person received as to what they perceive. What causes that perception to see boasting in another?"
Maybe the listener has been boasted to or lied to too many times before. Or maybe they like to boast so they just assume that the speaker also likes to boast.
Or maybe the speaker IS boasting and the listener is very astute.
Probably all of those answers are correct in one situation or another.
Glad to meet you. Hope you post some more and enjoy the forum.
