Is Self Importance Important?

Moses on the top of Sinai mountain had nothing better to do then ask the lord god of Israel for it's name, he did that with hidden intent, as he grew up in Egypt where words were considered power he figured that knowing god's name would make him control his lord god ( check the papirus Ani for details ).  He was told "I am what i am" because the enetity that told him knew the difference between self awareness and self importance. Something i have not seen in here.
