Naguals, nahuals, nagals, etc., each have their own predilection toward a particular dreaming group. There are 7 dreaming groups. A nahual will colour his training methods with his own dreaming group's focus. Here are the dreaming groups:
1. Lions- I destroy and create. I act.
2. Elephants- I gather all. I love.
3. Tigers- I seek cooperation. I think.
4. Bears- I fight for harmony. I battle.
5. Foxes- I must learn. I plan.
6. Wolves- I am free. I feel.
7. Dragons- I build. I conjure.
Also, each of us is naturally aligned to one of the 4 directions, and this will also colour a nahual's teaching.
Here are the 4 directions and their inherent characteristics for males:
East. Knowledge, discrimination.
West. Intent, light through darkness.
South. Courage, honour.
North. Choosing between old and new, harmony, balance.
And for females:
East. Death, forbearance, destiny.
West. Fluidity, freedom and change, mixed abundance.
South. Impeccability, vitality, guidance.
North. Strength, stability, peace and success.
Ultimately, the facts and objectives remain the same. A person must find the type of teacher that fits him. The guide will only accept those that are leaning naturally in the directions that make them good apprentices for him. A nahual with a predilection for the east will be philosophical. West; occult. South: mystical. And north: pragmatic.
The danger that exists in the alternative realms is that without a qualified guide, one can be hooked by any number of entities. Many have webs that snare the foolish traveler and can lead to several lifetimes of entrapment in a path that is purely for the energetic feeding of the trapper. Would you know the difference? There are other concerns, as well. The warrior's shield is most important. This is the shield: a warrior is wide awake, fearful, respectful, and fully assured.
The warrior's path is a selfish one. By that, I mean that we work to become warriors and to be impeccable. Those around us benefit, as well.
