REPOST: SHAMANKA'S Changes in Nagualism

Eilias...

I asked you about your specific statement: "Unfortunately, Castaneda got too caught up into the "made up," things that don Juan spoke about and made those things into Doctrine and Dogma."

I'm saying that Castaneda has not mislead anyone and asked you to give an example. The example you shared from Wheel of Time is not an example of misleading, in fact its more of the very clarity he is good for, if you ask me. He, in that excerpt is reveling a new dimension to the teachings, it was part of the design/plan. You can't expect him when he just started out to know what was what, and so what happened was later in this apprenticeship he was able to make clear what has been quoted here and why the teachings were the way they were and we made that journey with him and it benefited us to. We too had to be tricked in the beginning in order to build a bridge to understanding. Anyone who reads wheel of time will then be able to begin to put all the puzzle pieces together based on that clarification. Some people won't be able to do that, but that does not mean its CC's fault or he himself was dogmatic.

The task is not so cut and dry though. Like CC says:

At the time of the events described in that book, don Juan spoke a great deal about allies, power plants,

Mescalito, the little smoke, the wind, the spirits of rivers and mountains, the spirit of the chaparral,

etc., etc. Later on when I questioned him about his emphasis on those elements, and why he wasn't

using them anymore, he admitted unabashedly that at the beginning of my apprenticeship, he had

gone into all that pseudo-Indian shaman rigmarole for my benefit.

This could be a case where you throw the baby out with the bath water. This is not saying there are not allies, not power plants, not spirits of rivers... Its talking about the syntax DJ used with Carlos in the beginning that pertained to Carlos's understanding. Carlos wanted a noble savage and so DJ played that part up...and he's telling Carlos why he did that. This passage you quoted is saying, more than anything, that as one expands, the teachings then have to expand with it. Its ridiculous to think we stay stuck on a concrete definition...but it does not mean there is no validity whatsoever to what was said...hence the need for us to expand what we know, by respecting the integrity of the core teachings but having at the same time a flexible ap to access new dimensions.
There are IBs out there, it does not matter the syntax used, the syntax neither validates or invalidates their existence. So you can call them what you want, I say some are our allies and some are not.
