Wit to me is concise and to the point. If it takes a paragraph to do a setup, it's not worth it. If you have a point to make, make it. In regard wit, I think immediately of Winston Churchill...when he was still a PM and a woman opposed said to him, "Sir Winston, if you were my husband, I'd put poison in your tea", to which he responded, "Madam...were I your husband, I would drink it."
My comment to Sacateca was to imply had he a point to make, make it. Obviously, with a volume of verbiage, he has no point.
