In the book Journey To Ixtlan Carlos wants to learn about plants. However, what he really wants to learn about is peyote; a plant that is illegal in many places. Don Juan does his best to prepare Castaneda to meet his allies through the form of whom he calls: Mescalito. In order to prepare for such an encounter don Juan teaches Castaneda how to restructure his life. So far, in the book, Castaneda does not apply don Juan's recommendations. I feel it is obvious don Juan can 'see' that the only reason Castaneda wants to learn about peyote is so that he can gain the glory of the world. Castaneda's secret plan was obviously to try to become respected by his peers at UCLA and maybe earn a Ph. D through the process. Then, as most men think they want, he would have women adoring him and have his choice in his own private harem. Of course, Carlos would never openly tell don Juan this is why he wants to learn about peyote. Castaneda has to lie to maintain his 'front'. He asks don Juan something to the effect of, 'Isn't just the desire to know good enough?' To which don Juan essentially says, 'No, it is not good enough'. I believe Carlos Castaneda's secret reason to know continually sabotaged his relationships with the Universe. The plant world wanted nothing to do with Castaneda. However, I believe don Juan's allies saw the opportunity to use Castaneda in order to lure others in and glut themselves on the energies of many, many people.
So, I still currently believe that Castaneda was pimping for a self-righteous system that is destroying the Earth in its demented sense of 'clarity'. It might be correct to say that the whole of the modern, Western world has been defeated by the enemy, on the path of knowledge, don Juan called: clarity. It is the self-certain clarity of the modern human Western world that propels it forward towards its own self-destruction.
Don Juan, on the other hand, was pimping for his "allies". They were determined to have replacements to feed them in order for don Juan to gain his goal of "freedom". I believe they tricked don Juan even as don Juan tricked Carlos Castaneda. Carlos gained all he wanted from the world...with consequences. That's what can happen if Intent does not approve of you and the way you live. You may summon success with Intent, but if Intent does not approve of you your "success" will come with miserable consequences.
I've learned, through accessing my limitless potential, that the Spirit of Mother Nature and the Spirit of Intent are symbiotically intertwined. It is my current belief that although they are intertwined they are separate in that Mother Nature's main aspect is alive whereas the Nature of Intent is beyond all opposites in that it is not alive because it cannot die.
The Earth is a living being, but just because humans may cause the death of this planet does not mean that Mother Nature will die. That is what I believe is the core difference between Mother Nature and the Spirit of the Earth. They are symbiotically intertwined, but the Spirit of the Earth and the Spirit of Mother Nature are intrinsically separate. I believe the Spirit of Mother Nature spans the entire cosmos and possibly parallel dimensions whereas the Spirit of the Earth spans just the planet Earth. If this is true we can clearly see that Intent is the master whose core rests in a realm beyond all opposites. The Spirit of Mother Nature rests in a core of opposites and the Spirit of the Earth rests within planet Earth.
