I think this is an issue where its not black and white though. And its not easy to unravel it all when you consider this. For example, Ruiz gave that a person tells another about the color of their face indicating cancer...in keeping with that example, though its not the best (because its not a common thing to say), lets say this causes the person to go to the doctor and this person finds out that they have cancer, but its in early stages and so can be cured. The reason they went to the doctor is becasue someone suspected cancer. So this is an example of the complexity of 'logic' applied to an issue that is not balck and white as it at first appears. That comment was an omen of spirit in such a case, rather then black magic.
Another example is that other people's 'black magic' can be a means of freedom and release for us. So black magic, as its refered to here is sometimes the 'cure'. Such as, I go to work and someone tells me something mean, like lets say they criticise the way I handled a situation on the job. I go home and cry becasue I am so upset, and then I ask myself,"why am I crying over what this person said abotu me, and then I begin to recap my own past and locate stuff to let go of and next day I feel better and am a stronger person the next time I encounter this co worker or a similar work situation. So spirit uses poeple, they are agents of spirit and the aim is to help us examine and release what has been tucked away in us as hurt and feeling helpless, and instead to make our intent sharper as a result of the challenges others force us to face and reflect upon. So its a process.
