barry long audio...me: the void of absence
#4
Having listened to the whole thing now, yes I really liked how he went sort of step by step in explaining "thinking" without um, thinking.
A very good video overall. For part of it, I was following along with the meditationesque parts of going into "me" as he terms it, and I had a weird distortion of my sense of time. I could have sworn it was about 2 to 2 and 1/2 hours that I was just sitting in "me" like that, then I opened my eyes and saw it had been about 20 minutes. Not sure if that is anything more than a trivial fact, but it was an experience for me.

I rewatched the first hour as well, and noticed a bit more the harsh tone he uses for the first half hour. It got me wondering a bit, (ha, I didn't say thinking! ). I got the impression that he was speaking from spirit to the minds of his listeners. The first woman who asked a question mentioned his tone and that it made her uncomfortable and felt she was being shamed. So I wondered why the tone was harsh as well after that, since even though the mind might hate the nagual it hardly means the nagual hates the mind. I came up with an analogy which might explain it or just might be completely off base. The mind could be likened to a tiger which has imprisoned the woman, and the nagual is being harsh not out of hatred for the tiger, but to get it to leave so the woman can be free. Further I'd say that people have their own styles of expression, and the nagual spirit might choose different people to express this in different ways. Mr Long was trying to chastize the tiger into leaving. The nagual might choose someone else whose style might be more to frighten the tiger away. Another style could be to try to talk the tiger into committing suicide. Yet another might be to try to use reverse psychology on the woman telling her how wonderful it is that she has that tiger keeping her in such a marvellous cage. To take this analogy even further, the nagual isn't restricted to just using words or even people to send these messages. That is one example of why it would be good to be able to recognize omens.

There's one other question this video has got me wondering about. Ideas/thoughts tend to pop into our minds from seemingly outside ourselves, such as from the flyers. Likewise intuitive knowing and pressures of the spirit also come from seemingly outside ourselves. In dreaming, the trick to determine if one is in a real dream world or just an ordinary dream is to look to see what if anything is generating energy. Is there a similar trick to help determine whether things which pop into our heads to us are coming from mind or from spirit?
