Its the secret of the shadows that holds the omst meaning here. Shadows first be dark, formless, free. Not yet created for purpose until the light touches them, fills them with form. Taming the serpent is that simple. You control the light you cast, the judgement formed. By doing so you tame the shadow. The shadow need not be dark or evil, it may be what ever light you cast within it. The darkness is void, it is raw potential, until the moment you observe it. Control your perception, your awareness, your life light. "First there was darkness, and then there was light".
