That on your front door was of course an inorganic being. They are pure energy, but your attention traduces it into a form. The form is not important, but it is important that you sensed it as something vampiric, because in fact it was sucking, or trying to suck your energy, not beacause it was evil, but more because that is what IBs do by default. You can talk to them and ask them to carry you to their world, if you are sure of this. They will give you energy in exchange for yours if you do that. If you did that connection, it will anyway be imposible for you to dream lucid without inorganic presence. They are interested in your energy; the more you have, the more they get interested. I ran away from what I thought to be a persistent succubus for years, doing the same as you: fly, but lately I found some information about what to do about. To go to their world is called to cross the 2nd Gate of dreaming, and it awakes a new a more powerfull awarness in your dreaming adventures, plus it reconfigurates to your benefit the relationship with them.
