Intent is what really stops the world, and the placement of your power. What is not usually initially seen upon using this technique is that it works because you have placed the power according to don Juan's teachings/awareness. In actuality don Juan himself through the use of Carlos is moving you into that position where silence intends that effect based from the awareness given by don Juan. He is actually setting up your body to produce the intended result. To say there is only one way to do this is foolish as there are many ways to stop the world or to shift into the unknown. I use my mind to set my intent carefully. Its a funny concept to fully realize if you can but involves the dreaming attention, and the act of dreaming attention, or intending attention. It is to say that as we become aware of something, like the power of attention, it begins to form and develop. The same applies to all the areas and functions of the mind, and how you set up the power within it. If your internal dialogue annoys you and sustains your world, then intend it to form consciousness that you intend it to form, or direct it to. Then your mind can form the world, and with practice you can form your mind and direction of your stalking. If you really dislike words in your mind then intend to see just the energy of the thought without the translation, like I do. Then you may be able to see that you are drawing your thoughts into forms of conscious awareness that stems from a formless source that can form any consciousness. Your attention connects to this source and creates the form you intend. It takes observation to really see this and control it. What I am really saying is that 'stopping the world', although a very successful technique to leave behind the 1st attention, is more of a baby step for average people to begin intending a new way into the unknown. Personally I do not give the words in my head any power at all unless I move into the position that merges my words with my intent, but then my words are still the echo of that reaction and not the reaction itself, and so i do not usually use my words to direct my intent and power. I instead direct my consciousness using my attention as a focus that generates awareness.
