You mention that you have no control. Why did you think that you needed to put your shoes on first? Perhaps it is your effort to do what one is suppose to do that took you out of the scene? Maybe next time just go with it. You might not need to open doors. Sedna
I did not need to put on my shoes, that's the point. I knew that as it was happening that it what was so frustrating, lol. If you remember in the waking construct I had taken my shoes off to get comfortable. The first thing I do after a nap is put my shoes back on. Somehow this habit and impression was bleeding over into dreaming and starting to engulf my dreaming attention. These are the kind of moments not to get focused on in dreaming. I seem to remember something from TAOD about quickly stealing glances of objects so as not to become engulfed by them until one can isolate an IB.
I knew I was being engulfed as it was happening. I lacked personal power to do anything about it at that point.
If the habit of what I do regarding my shoes in the waking construct was so influential in dreaming, then I have to ask what kind of behavior in the waking construct could possibly aid the stability of attention in dreaming instead of engulfing it. Or are all habits in waking construct detrimental in dreaming and that any attempt to stabilize attention can only be supported in dreaming while dreaming.
You expert dreamers out there must be chuckling as this is all so elementary. Its just that over the years the little dreaming I have done has never really interested me even the dreaming with others, really just left me scratching my head. This has been the first time that I actually seemed to initiate it instead of it just merely happening to me or getting sucked into another's dreaming, riding on their dime.
Two things, and thanks for your honest answer. First, ever hear that old story about seeing the hole and falling in it anyways? Change happens like that, seeing it while you are doing it. However, don't beat yourself up over it as you will have other dreaming experiences.
The other is notice in the particular way how your daily habit affected your spirit. Notice how not everything from your waking life crosses over, but how this did. This is, I believe, how our daily choices can and do affect our spirit. It is something to consider anyways. The only thing that I have found that one can do in their waking life to help one's dreaming is learn to become detached to these habits and to not take them seriously. However, I consider it important to discern the precise way it crosses over and eliminate it. But, even without thinking about it, next time you will probably leave the shoes.
Fwiw, it appears to me like you are a knowledgable and advanced dreamer. No chuckling here, I am amazed. I probably won't be logging in here anymore, but it would have been nice talking with you further, you could be a great help to my own efforts at dreaming. Thanks again for your wonderful sharing.
