Taxi ride in the dark sea of Dreaming
#10
Two things, and thanks for your honest answer.  First, ever hear that
old story about seeing the hole and falling in it anyways?  Change
happens like that, seeing it while you are doing it.  However, don't
beat yourself up over it as you will have other dreaming experiences.
The
other is notice in the particular way how your daily habit affected
your spirit.  Notice how not everything from your waking life crosses
over, but how this did.  This is, I believe, how our daily choices can
and do affect our spirit.  It is something to consider anyways.  The
only thing that I have found that one can do in their waking life to
help one's dreaming is learn to become detached to these habits and to
not take them seriously.  However, I consider it important to discern
the precise way it crosses over and eliminate it. But, even without
thinking about it, next time you will probably leave the shoes.  Sedna
Sedna, "beating one's self up" is for those who suffer from guilt and a poor self image. Neither do I "have" a spirit. What is being effected is attention in dreaming.  I assure you this is very elementary dreaming and I am by no means advanced, merely a novice struggling at the first gate of dreaming. You want examples of proficient Dreamers see what Dreamways and SelfHealedMadman are doing.
