"can we agree to disagree Bob....i do not believe that the perfect law was revealed in the bible."
Of course, You are the master of what you allow yourself to believe. As am I.
I only give my own opinions based on my own studies and meditations over the years.
It is my opinion that there were two "Perfect Laws" in the Bible. Just to make my point a little more clear.
One to paint us into a corner, and one to let us out.
"i am curious about one thing....what do you believe happens to an individual who does not accept jesus christ as the only way to enlightenment."
Good question, right to the heart of the matter. In other words, am I laying another law upon people and am I a hypocrite?
To answer that question, I will tell a story that I heard long ago. I may not get the details correct, but it goes something like this.
A missionary went to a far off land. I believe it was India. While there, he, in the process of spreading the Gospel to the native people, was told of a holy man that lived alone up on a mountain. He decided to visit him and tell him the good news.
After a long climb up the mountain he met the holy man and told him the story of Jesus and all that he had done.
At this, the holy man replied; "Hey, I know him."
The problem is that people mix Jesus and Christ together.
Jesus was the chosen vessel that was prophecied throughout O.T. scripture to bring about the lifting of the Law that was brought by Moses. Where Moses brought the Law, Jesus brought Grace (a gift) and Truth (God is not mad at anybody).
Anyone who has an awareness of Grace as Reality already knows the essence of Jesus' message. Those people will not buy into a Wrathful, comdemning God.
Since Christ, or Christ Consciousness (whether it is called that in your langauge or not) is a necessary awareness "on the way back" to the Father, Nagual or Source of All, then the person who reaches Oneness, must "pass through" that same level of awareness.
Another way of looking at it is through the geneology of Jesus.
Abraham = the belief in things invisible to,..
David = The knowledge that God does not hold our sin against us,.. to
Jesus = God is my salvation.
These are levels of "seeing" or awakening to the Truth.
The O.T. characters were analogies, symbols of our waking up to reality.
You have to have the Abraham awareness or belief that there is an invisible world "out there" to progress at all towards "seeing".
You have to go through the level of awareness symbolised by David, which is; (God is not holding all of my screw-ups against me) to go any further toward becoming One with the infinite.
I know that the people on this list have reached at least the first Abraham awareness or you would not be here.
And I can tell when a person is at least touching on the David awareness by the very fact that the holding a grudge by God does not sound God-like to them.
The entire lineage of Jesus is a roadmap to Oneness. Those of the family line from Abraham to Christ were given the "Covenant" = Promise of circumcision. The Covenant, not the Commandment. It is symbolic of the removing of the "Veils of Flesh" so that we can "see" into the spiritual realms. As paul says it is the true circumcision of the heart. Like onion skins as Don Juan put it.
The moving of the assemblage point towards the core of our being.
The promises are given to those who remove the veils.
The end result is Christ Consciousness. And then Oneness with the All.
No one cometh to the Father but through me.
Jesus was speaking as Christ.
