Isn't there a chance that the dream will be blurred by the events of the day? I have a feeling that if the dream isn't captured within an hour of awakening, chances are that it will corrupted by your awake life - interepreted into a form that is no longer comprehensible from its original state.
But I've only remembered a few dreams in my life, I will try your advice and see where it leads me.
