Reality consists out of the conditions by which your being exists. Something that is unreal that is unreality, is not like my being, it is like something I don't understand.
The more dreaming gates a dreamer passes, the more real dreaming gets for a dreamer, when one thinks of the impact dreaming has on the life of the dreamer as a Tonal.
For the Nagual (your dreaming body or the Self) the world of the Tonal, the solid world out of matter, also becomes of greater and greater importance as the Tonal passes the dreaming gates. Passing the 3rd gate for example implies, that the dreaming body examines the solid world, the Tonal lives in. It literally means, that your Nagual is walking around in the Tonal's world without being made out of matter.
At forth gate you add the matter to the dreaming body, so to speak the reality of your existence in time and space without being bound to the laws of time and space. Every step constitutes a new reality out there though. It's all an evolving dream.
