Yes, interesting point about threads growing through being challenged. I hadn't thought of that before but now see its true, threads do need a certain amount of controversy or divergence in views that they continue. In that way they draw people in who have views on the subject who then feel the need to do whatever they do.
Which brings me to my next point, the intent of peoples responses. I see two distinct areas, conscious expression, and the deeper structure of the hidden compulsion to respond.
I mentioned in the opening post a few different styles of response, some that cut, others that agree and support, others still change the direction of a thread completely, (much like a change in angle of a plants stem) I try to be aware of what it is i actually want when i post and have to admit that a lot of the time its pure ego based stuff like wanting to sound great, liking the sound of my own voice etc. Seeing this vile content in myself helps to see similar in others too, which is similarly as revolting to witness as my own reasons.
So i'll come clean, the reason i wrote this thread is to support the general spring clean that is happening here on the site. Just a gentle reminder (thwack) of how i would like evolved beings to engage in intercourse. Also i love the sound of my own voice.
