Don't you think that comparisons are somewhat of an "indulgence," as well?
A way of either ranking one's self above (self-importance) or below (indulging) another?And my short answer on that is people are seeking the divine...all-ness, the equality that we all know...because we sense that it is inherent...just nearly everyone is going about it the wrong way, via the rational mind which will get stuck in all the tonal 'realities' that on another level, higher spiritual level, are illusions.
I think it becomes an "indulgence" if we realize whats said in the above paragraph (rational mind) applies to us and yet keep doing it anyway. Prior to that many people don't even see what they are actually doing. So once its seen, then it can be changed.
