On Stalking
#16
To advance upon the stalkers principles in theory is the best I can do at the moment. I wont pretend that, as an American, I never indulge in anything. Where to draw the line between enjoyment and indulgence that is harmful to the being is a mystery to me. Id say I am guilty of indulging on many fronts. I would attempt to excuse myself by saying that I live in a society of people who are psychologically programmed to indulge, but that is just a cheap excuse. So what I am writing here on stalking is what I feel are the ideal observations towards applying the principles to moment-by-moment living.
Moving quickly enough in order to keep from pushing oneself to the front does not mean to rush through a task. I believe you will know if you are rushing because you will lose the sense of invigoration that comes from moving fast enough to keep ones thoughts equal to everything and fully immersed in whatever task the stalking principles are being applied to. I believe that proper stalking transforms each and every task into a magnificent work of art. As a matter of fact I would go so far as to say that, properly done, stalking techniques transform life into a magnificent work of art with each and every microcosm of movement a Sacateca dance of power.
I recently did what I felt was my best to apply the ideal principles of stalking to cleaning the fish tank. Do I feel I fully succeeded? No. There were times when I moved too fast and effectively pushed myself to the front and there were times when I moved too slow and effectively pushed myself to the front. I now see that the velocity of motion in a stalkers task must be fluid and continually adjusted in order to keep from pushing oneself to the front and losing the sense of a magical task through thinking thoughts that strip the act of its magic. Is part of me tempted to feel that attempting to apply these stalking principles towards the transformation of my moment-by-moment existence are all in vain? Yes. Unfortunately, I must admit that all the improvements I have made have come from slowly tightening up the loose ends of my life by slowly applying the stalking procedures to everything I do; and this, whether I directly realized it or not. There is no turning back for there is no back to turn to.

Those who treat the books about don Juan as the gospel of don Juan according to Carlos Castaneda will most definitely disagree, but I still say that
Stalking is
successfully dealing with oneself
in order to successfully deal with others.
If you cannot properly deal with yourself
you cannot properly deal with others.

A truly successful stalker
Becomes the ultimate as an excellent worker
No matter what job he or she may perform
If don Juan and his party were warriors of some obscure and abstract freedom then I am a warrior of reaping the most wonderfully satisfying and happy life possible for a human being. I find this goal much more motivating than using the misty and obscure idea of my death as a motivational factor towards successful living. I am not going in the same direction don Juan and Carlos Castaneda purportedly were. They were ruthlessly striving to reach some obscure abstract goal that they could not properly define. My goals are much more real and tangent and becoming more powerfully clear and focused all the time. In my opinion, my goals for successful living are far more real and attainable than the misty and uncertain goals of don Juan and Carlos Castaneda. There is no indication that Carlos or any of the witches associated with him ever attained their goal of freedom. As a matter of fact, as the inner information comes to light, Id go so far as to say that no one should follow the path Castaneda took. At best we should use don Juans lessons, as Bruce Lee would put it: Like a finger pointing to the moon. Dont concentrate on the finger least you miss all that heavenly glory. Instead concentrate upon where the finger is pointing and continually reach for absolute victory without sacrificing your moment-by-moment happiness in the process.
Total victory in life
is not so much for those who are talented
as it is for those who are ruthlessly focused on their goals in life
and refuse to give up.
