I am not being just stubborn or contrary in what follows. I know what I know:
The concept of enlightenment is a wholeness of being.. an integrity and easiness of being.
The notion of divesting from the tonal manifested in personal experience, history, and societal context, etc. is complete nonsense. 'Destroying' the self is a convoluted trick to generate spacious separation for greater objectivity for control of choices.
I used it effectively, but the actual preparation and work is done autonomously within the conventional framework. At the root of effective awareness is one's choice and why one chooses in the first place.
To have an intent that unfolds with not-doing is altogether different from intent that does so with out conception and remembering. Intent surely does come to fruition without remembering, but its birth then bears the attributes of something that happens to 'us' (I am not 'us'). About two decades ago, in the experience of nirvana, a mentor pulled me from the delusion of the 'happening.' He had me choose to SEE right there and then the how and why of that incredible experience so as to be on top of it (personally in control). And afterwards, I so wanted to gravitate to desire for the happening to happen again. My mentor pulled me from that too.
He reminded me about the work---> focus is to be brought back to one's orderly choice. What is the intent and the vision (ass_hole *) ?
Once one realizes the immutable connection of one's responsibility to manifestation, there is a heaviness of the heart and intensity that is to be worked through. To cope with the weight and emergent energies requires inumerable tonal disciplines. All of this presupposes having attained enough (decisional acumen) mastery over one's thoughts and emotions, and conditionality.
At this point, intent is in major proportion to one's existences and requires an essential rally of centering personhood. One chooses to hone focus singularly to intent in a profound way. There is no longer a disconnect from the world unfolding. Synchronicity is abundant. No thing is merely coincidental. The responsibility is more immense each step of the way, and why the tonal disciplines were (are) necessary. Energies must be constructively diffused.
AND- not-doing aside, intent requires a knowing.. a remembering. I spoke of this with someone a few days ago. This remembering is refined and compressed into a 'key.' It works like a hook that pulls one back into their intent. It unlocks the dynamics of one's intent at work. One is now participating in their intent dynamically. This brings one into the realm of mastery of their own intent. There is affirmation, confidence, and joy.
One celibrates the richness and power of participating in one's own intent's imminency. The idea of disabling self (selflessness), is entirely at odds with what I am saying. Choice always originates from the point of my body and where I AM physically.
When the intent is fulfilled, the happening is not 'just happening.' Even though its (usually blissful) emanations are unknown, I am equal to them.. I am in charge of their reception. Whenever and however (if) I am 'besieged,' I am on top. I AM always on top.
The POWER that attends intent, is not simply POWER (somewhere out there)---> it is decisively my POWER.
