Lena was 15 years old.
I did not want to go downstairs to Lena because I knew she would die. Eventually shook myself and went to my Sis. Got a little stool and sat next to her. She laid her head on my foot and I told her that I'd never ever forget her and that we would meet again, then she died, quietly and with grace.

Why didn't I go down stairs sooner.
No one could consol me for about a month. My friend Patricia called a little later to remind me of what groceries to get for our weekend down the Islands... and I said no can do, I'm too devastated. She raged at me that the dammed dog was dead. So I put down the phone.
My friend of 17 years never spoke to me again. I called her, wrote her after about a week, tried to explain that the death of Lena was like loosing a child, but she refused to have anything more to do with me.
Lena will always be with me. What a beauty she was, a jet black Labrador, her father was the Caribbean Champion, a golden Retriever.
Shitzzz, this is not making me feel better,, lol. it's like torture.
