When I think about allies I immediately reference to the stories I have read about them probably all in books by Castaneda, funnily enough it was at the end of reading The Art Of Dreaming that I became very panicked and told my friend that if this book was true then I would have to completely change my life, I think I changed my view of the world that very day to incorporate the possibility of everything in that book being true! but as my mother used to say '' you will believe anything '' I thought the life of Pi was a true story for a while : )
Others I have spoken to say that things like mushrooms and peyote are an Ally. I have not tried peyote but my experiences with mushrooms do raise all kinds of questions for me about the sentience of mushrooms and their potential role as a guiding force.
An ally to me so far is perhaps a sentient force that may help us by interacting with it. This is a loose definition though because does that not count for every sentient being in the universe? A man would be just as much an ally as a mushroom.
