I see good examples of this concept in Jesus' Temptation in the Wilderness, in the crowd yelling Crucify Him when just 5 days before they welcomed him into
Jerusalem by spreading palm fronds in front of him as he rode into town.


Also when it said that Satan entered into Judas just before he left the "Last Supper" on his way to betray Jesus.


But even moreso in the concept of the "Carnal Mind."




Here are Paul's words on that subject;





"For we know that the law is spiritual, but I am carnal, sold under sin.






For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do.



If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good.



Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.



For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform
that which is good I find not.



For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do.






Sounds like a bunch of double talk at first glance. But, bottom line is that when we try to do good there is something that
resides inside of us that keeps us from doing it. Something that is not us but fights us, keeping us from our purposes and frustrating our every
effort.
