Some thoughts on internal dialogue and how FI operates
#8
"to work on stopping internal dialogue, it looked good to me, but sudenly out of nowhere an thought appeared which said "It won't work", plain and simple.
I was kind of sure this had to be from FI, it could not be a messsage from spirit,"
Not all inner dialog is from the FI. It may just be you.
Your subconscious mind. It is used to being in control and it is an animal mind,..conditioned,..trained into getting it's own way. Like a poorly trained pet or child, it must be retrained.
To retrain it we must go back to zero. Back to our basic self as when we first "put things together", when we first "started our world".
Relieiving ourselves of emotion is part of it by "recapitulation" or "mind awareness" as I have learned and practiced it.
The other part is stopping the internal dialog.
What has worked well for me is that I listen to my breathing when I want to turn off the internal dialog.
It gives my mind something to concentrate upon and it carries no meaning as words do. Since it carries no meaning, it does not add anything to your self-image.
Doktor Green is correct in comparing it with a death of sorts. It is the death of who we thought we were, which we have overlayed on top of our pure being which is BEING.
Try listening to your breathing. It has helped me. And if the dialog starts up again, just gently bring your mind back to your breathing. Eventually, your subconscious mind will start to enjoy the benefits of the "retraining", and give up.Bob
