Developing our individuality is not a selfish pursuit. One is transcending selfishness, which is a social trait. As we develop our individuality we can do far more for others. Even our simple presence becomes uplifting. And besides, even if you are doing good to others just to get a self-important high for a while, you will seldom see the receiving end of help complaining about it.
Mother Teresa, Buddha and such are not selfish in their desire of easing the suffering of others nor they are in need of helping themselves. It's a natural tendency of their hearts when they are so at ease and see themselves surrounded by misery. That's the essence of compassion, a foreign concept in naguals affairs.
For the most of it, those who regard helping others as a selfish pursuit are the one that are excusing themselves for not wanting to move a pinky for anybody. Not you though Kao.
LOLOLOL. Well that is correct and wrong. It is correct in that I am in a selfish pursuit. You are wrong in that I wont move a pinky for anyone My theory is, make everyone around me better people so that I can be surrounded by powerful beings. Hell, if everyone remains a sheep, then it is ME who has to protect the little buggers. If I make everyone else wolves (nice ones), then hell, I ain't gotta do any protecting and I can go out EXPLORING!
See what I mean? I'm selfish in my giving because it means less work for me. Laughs. Make perfect sense to me, it's a win-win situation for all. They get enlightment, I get a loose end tied up. My purpose in life: to go exploring. My duties in life: protect others. Conclusion: less to protect means more exploring time. Work hard now, it'll pay off later.
.... ****, I see a problem with my theory at the moment. If you make the box bigger, there's more space to be filled... ****. YOU RAINED ON MY PARADE DAMNIT! You are fired!
