Place of no pity
#5
Interestingly , the only person I know here , where I live , who knows of Castaneda and don Juan is also a cancer survivor. She is also familiar with herbal
healing. She gave me some White Sage so that I could perform a personal blessing. I need to do that again , soon.

What you described sounds a lot like the 'double' , as if you were dreaming and looking at yourself asleep.

Thank you for your honesty. The CC books do claim that severe illness or trauma brings out the other side. My look at it is that being civilized ,
acculturated to an idea , is what destroys our magical side , which you seem to have contacted. We seem to to be so concerned , these days , with our social
status , that we cannot access our 'natural ' status , if that is what I can call it.

I peer through the looking glass , darkly. Castaneda's work has led me to other information concerning the Nations of the New World (Indians) and their
ways of facing life , death and Spirit , all of which agree with much of what CC wrote. I also have some old paperbacks by J Krishnamurti which also
synchronizes with same.

Oh , I'm rambling. I do not say that modern medicine should be totally tossed , but somehow , those things that have been put on the trash heap should be
restored , if any of it is left. I kick myself for not learning more about Natural healing , though I have learned a little of Spirit healing. And , dammit
, getting over self-pity is the roughest road. I struggle with it always.

And this: one thing I have not expressed on the forum before . There are always those stories about someone who is told he has only 6 months to live. He
says to himself , OK , I am free , let me fill these last days with purpose or joy , rather than sorrow. At the edge of my thoughts , this seems to be part of
what don Juan was teaching ; to cast one's fate to the wind , impeccably , not foolishly.

Again , this is just me , so please do not be offended if I overstep.
